Verizon Online and DIRECTV Broadband Enter Into Agreement for Transition of DIRECTV DSL customers

More than 27,000 DIRECTV DSL customers will have safe harbor for Internet access in Verizon local telephone operating areas


NEW YORK & CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 30, 2002-- Verizon and DIRECTV Broadband today announced an agreement to facilitate the transition of more than 27,000 DIRECTV DSL(TM) customers served by Verizon DSL to Verizon DSL service in Verizon local telephone operating areas. The agreement follows an announcement made by HUGHES on Dec.13 that DIRECTV Broadband will discontinue its "DIRECTV DSL" service and immediately transition existing customers to alternative providers.

I just cancelled my Verizon service. I'm getting Earthlink for $10 cheaper. Verizon also blocks incoming port 80 and outgoing port 25 (outside the Verizon network). I also don't like how they just laid off a bunch of workers the other day.
