View Full Version : Am I crazy, or has Discovery HD been out of sync for two days now?

I rebooted my receiver (didn't power it down though). I rebooted my amplifier. I switched channels a lot.

I checked in the other room.

It seems Discovery HD (not theater) has been out of audio/video sync for two days. In both of my rooms, no matter what I do. Other channels aren't out of sync (even HD ones) when viewed on this receiver. And Discovery HD is out of sync in the other room.

Is it just me? Is there any way to fix it?

I notice the same thing this evening watching mythbusters....

It was like watching a bad Japanese/Chinese translation lol

Two weeks in a row now Mythbusters has been unwatchable due to the horrible sync issues.

yea, noticed it on mythbusters too. though i wouldn't go so far as to say it was unwatchable (i could still stare at kari)

Mythbusters was terrible tonight it was so out of sync. Dirty Jobs was also pretty bad yesterday. I hope this gets fixed soon.

The Meat Loaf concert on HDNet was bad last week. It was fine until the audio started slipping about 2/3 through. By the end it was REALLY bad.

I also noticed the issue last night on MythBusters. I agree.. like watching a Japanese samurai movie. My wife was complaining for an hour and I kept switching channels and going back to Discovery HD thinking it was an IRD issue, to no avail.

This lip sync issue was very pronounced several weeks ago on all HD channels from D10, but after a few weeks, the lip sync problems went away. They appear to be back now in some respect.

Does everyone seeing this have an HR20? I wonder it if is a D* transmission issue or software issue.

I agree, this is just terrible, even the commercials are out of sync. I normally don't watch them, but I did just to confirm, they also are terribly out of sync.:nono2:

MythBusters was out of sync last night on my HR20-100, worst I have ever seen.

I found the only way to enjoy it was to look away when they were showing people talking. Only watch the hot water heaters taking off (which was SPECTACULAR), and only listen to the interview/commentary type parts.

So I am not the only one that noticed this! I wound up watching Mythbusters on the regular SD channel and it was better as far as audio sync.

Haven't checked it today.

So when this happens, like the MeatLoaf concert Sunday night, where/who do we post? I have never seen a lip sync problem on HDNet, so maybe it was a DirecTV problem. It was out of sync on my HR20 and my Sony HD300. I emailed HDNet and asked that they fix it for this coming Sunday's showing. IF it is a DirecTV problem---who do we email??

Same here for Mythbusters, Has to be just with a few episodes because i record several programs from Discovery HD and the others dont do it, last night was REAL bad.
