WOW ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I bitch and moan about D*'s incompetence in sorting issues which, I believe, are not that difficult to solve if people are just paying attention.

And this compliment should probably be sent to NESN instead of D*...

But....

Bruins hockey on 623.....

WOW ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Hockey and HD are a match made in heaven.

The HD hockey broadcasts on the MPEG4 channels have been nothing short of stunning. That said, given the NESN broadcasts EVERY Bruins game in HD - it's certainly worth giving props to them for the most HD games of any team playing.

The NESN-HD Bruins broadcast tonight was magnificent.

Agree with everyone above. This is why I stay with DirecTV.

(Now if we can just get the Bruins to generate some offense.)

NESN is usually excellent but I really think last night's game was the best picture quality I have ever seen. Everything was superb - except for the score!

I agree. I think a lot of it has to do with the arena lighting. I've always noticed that broadcasts from certain arenas just look better (even in SD). All the games in Boston look good. Toronto is another one that comes to mind.

I have to say that NESN has been one of the best HD channels I've seen too. Considering the quantity and quality of the hockey games, this is THEE best channel to watch hockey right now. Being a die-hard Flyer fan, I have to say that I probably watched more of the Bruin game last night than my Flyers (who were only on SD) just to be hypnotized by the picture.....magnificent, and it is probably the first channel I check in the guide right now to see of there is a Bruin game in HD each time they play.....sorry about Bergeron by the way bwaldron.......but Jones is not a dirty player, just young and dumb.......

Yes, that was my basic take on that horrible situation.

I've noticed that as well, even the SD PQ from Boston has always been excellent, really sharp and vibrant. I was never sure if that was due to lighting, or camera quality, or both.

I should also mention that my friend who has FIOS watched part of the Bruins game on my TV and said it was the best sports picture quality he had ever seen..

And it should be mentioned (given all the comparisons that have been made in the NHL threads) that it -- or any NESN-HD hockey -- was not seen by Dish Network Center Ice subscribers. ;)

I agree with all. The NESN HD picture is the best HD picture I have seen not only for hockey but pretty much any sport.

Yes NESN has the best HD PQ!! I was in awe when the puck came out of the rink over the glass and as it was flipping end for end past the camera you could read the NHL logo on the puck!!! NESN has done an extremely good job with their channel. I would put NESN a few notches above ESPN. They have set the bar for everyone else to follow. Not only are all the Bruins and RedSox games in HD, but the other shows like SportsDesk and Globe 10.0 are in HD also. Great Job!!! Its really good to be a New Englands sports fan these days :) GO PATS

Boo on the Go Pats! Seriously though NESN should be used as the benchmark for other sports channels in regards to HD presentation. Whenever my Sabres and Bruins are on at the same time I tend to turn on NESN because of the incredible picture.

As a Sox fan, I shouldn't say this...but I find the (technical) quality of YES HD baseball to be possibly a tiny bit better than NESN. Both do a great job, though.
