Definetly one tribe.... I think this tho.
One tribe to start with, go until 2 or 3 people are voted off. THEN move to 2 tribes until there are 6 left, and THEN go back to one tribe.

Personally I'd like to see 3 tribes of 6 rather than two tribes of eight. If a team drops to two people prior to ultimate merge, its members are sent to the tribe with the fewest members, or split between the other two if both are even.

i like that idea! how about this variation? the 3 tribes as you suggest. When each tribe gets down to 2, that tribe is frozen. they can not compete in any immunity OR reward challenges until all 3 tribes are down to 2, THEN they merge in to one tribe of 6 ppl.
