First a little background. I have a HR20-700 and a HR20-100. Attic mounted OTA antenna that runs thru a two way splitter to each HR20.
The issue I have is with the HR20-100. This problem only started within the last month. I'll tune to one of my local HD channels via OTA, and will get the 771 searching message. I can then go into the antenna setup and check the signal strength and it will register 95%. I can exit back out to live TV and the channel will tune in fine. This is happening very frequently. It's a nuisance when watching live TV, but it is infuriating when it causes non-recordings (IE black screens).
When this problem appears (daily) I can immediately go to my HR20-700 and it tunes in the same channel every time. I have yet to see the 771 message on it.
I called DirecTV, did the reset the DVR via the menu option, did the reset locals market option, bought a new splitter, checked all cables. I'm really confused. How can the unit not tune the channel, me check the signal strengh and get 95%, then exit out and the channel tune in fine.
Anybody seen anything like this? Anyone have any suggestions? I tried to search, but there are a million 771 threads.
Thanks. I'm in Columbia, SC if that matters, which it really shouldn't since one unit works fine.
