View Full Version : Some scheduled timers are blank?

I have come across this numerous times where some timers schedules are blank, even though I know there is something that is supposed to record. I have a work around for this, but I would like to know why it's happening and what the solution is to fix this permanently.

Let's say it's Monday and Prison Break, Heroes, and Journeyman are all set to DVR "new' episodes and it normally does. However, I looked at the next day's schedule and those shows are not listed. When I go to the individual timer's schedule, it is blank. I have to go to the "Options" menu and switch it from "New" to "All", hit done. Then I check it and YEP, there are episodes scheduled as they should be. Now I can go back and switch them to "New" and everything is all good.

I have had this happen numerous times where a timer is not triggered because it was just blank. I have Sunrise Earth on Animal Planet-HD set as M-F "Auto tune" and more often than not, it does not do as it si supposed to. When I check that timer's schedule, it's blank sometimes.

Really frustrating.

I have seen this happen when I ran out of event (not timer) slots. Any chance you're up over 500 events (including skips) in the schedule? Even if you're not completely out during the day, if it runs out during the guide download and timer processing overnight, it can miss events.

Worse yet, it doesn't process timers in priority order, so there's no telling which timer will have it's event(s) left out.

I have 550 events. Yes, the blank timers are random. How can the event log be cleared out?

I'll tell you, I cannot figure this timer thing out. All of my timers on my 622 fire when they are supposed to, but for three Saturday's running now, my alma mater's televised game timers have not fired. One was Fox Sports Bay Area, and the last two, including today, were KGO-SF (ABC). Timer is there, and yet it doesn't record, and the time slot on the guide that used to show a tuner #2 recording icon in the future, is now mysteriously gone. I only have 15 timers set, including today's game, mostly for New shows and movies. No way am I at some arbitrary 500 timer limit. This was Cal-USC, dammit, and I've had the timer set since last Monday. What the heck is going on??????

Dave... I read your post on the other thread.. I am going to move this thread over to the support forum. at 550 timers you are 26 away from the limit. My recommendation in trying to debug the issue it first drop down to around 500 to give more head room since timer events counts change on a daily basis and see if the issues go away.

I personally am at 276 timers and would be very curious as to what is getting you up to 550 timers events.
