Big shock huh?

Ok, so here is the deal. I am trying to share my Main PC as the Picture/Music source. My DirecTV box doesn't see it (yet has full network access). I want to do a little troubleshooting. So here is what I did.

I tried WMP11, Nero, and finally TVersity, and none of them seemed to be found by the HR20.

I have left TVersity installed, and I am going to try to work with that. Is there a way that I can make my laptop act like an HR20 as far as being a device that wants to access shared media from my TVersity server?? I tried looking around WMP11, and couldn't find any way to do it. I want to hook my laptop up to different parts of my network, and see where the gap is that is causing the HR20 not to see the TVersity stuff.

You may want to try 3 things.

1. The old Menu > Reset > Dash now you have enabled Media Share on your PC.
2. Make sure that (in WMP11 at least) your WMP11 sees the HR20 (usually "unknown device") and allow it (it is declined by default).
3. Make sure you have no firewall on your PC preventing sharing internally.

Also to make sure your PC is ok for sharing, you can try and play things through your laptop (again in WMP11 you will have to implicitly allow the laptop to share). Once you can share things from your PC to your laptop then the problem will lie outside of your PC and would be a network problem or HR20 (the reset usually clears it).

I have reset my HR20 twice, but I am going to try again, since I am now using TVersity. I have no firewall installed on my PC, and the MS one is disabled, so I think we are ok there as well.

What I want to do for troubleshooting is get some sort of media player for my laptop, that communicates via UPnP, but I cannot seem to find one. This would allow me to move my laptop to different parts of the network, and see where it stops working... Any ideas?
