DTV DSL shut off my service on 12/27/02. I called Verizon on 12/20/02 to order their DSL service. I was trying to get Verizon to switch my service over when DTV DSL turned my service off.

I had to go with Verizon because they will not let any other DSL carrier use their lines in the Western New York area.

I called Verizon on 12/28/02 after receiving my equipment from Verizon. The Customer Service Rep. (CSR) I spoke with said I should be without service for a couple of days while they make the switch over. I called back on 12/30/02 and then was told that I would have to wait 7 business days from when DTV turned off my DSL service for DTV to clear my line of their DSL signal.

I waited until 1/2/03 to call back and I was told by the CSR. that it will be 30 to 90 days before I was connected to Verizon. I told the CSR I wanted to speak with a manager. The manager I spoke with told me that with 27,000 customers that had to be switched over it will take some time. I asked him why do I get a different story every time I call?? He told me this is an on going process and there isn't a final agreement yet between DTV and Verizon. I told the CSR Manager that they should have a meeting with there CSR staff and have them tell all customers the same story. I am a CSR where I work and when we have a problem I bring our office together and make sure everyone is on the same page as what to tell the customer.

I was also told that DTV must release the line before Verizon can hook me up, but on the DTV DSL website it says Verizon must tell DTV DSL when they are ready to hook up so DTV DSL can release the line.

Still waiting for VERIZON to get off their behind!!!!! and hook me up.

So this is what I have to look forward to? I was hoping for smooth sailing during the transition, but I guess that was asking too much.

Why did DirecTV shut off your service so soon? I'm still connected as of last night. And by the way, Verizon is not the only carrier in our area. You can also get service from Earthlink DSL.

Seriously look at Covad. They offer service with a static IP address, and I got connected in less than a week. Of course, you'd have to have the old one disconnected, but they've got a form that gives them the right to handle that for you. Nice deal.

I called earthlink and they said their service wasn't available in the Depew area. DTV shut off the service because Verizon told me to have them turn it off so DTV DSL could shut off the signal on the line. This way Verizon could hook up their DSL service. I was originally told this should only take 2 days.
