View Full Version : Question about DishMover service...

Here's my dilemma: I've been a happy E* customer since '99, using a 5000 rcvr with the old Dish500 twin LNB, AT150 package.

Now we're moving (next door, in fact). I'm gonna use DishMover to set up the new antenna. The question I have is will they install a legacy LNB or one of the new DishPro LNB's. I'm considering getting a second (PVR) rcvr, so it makes sense to get the DP LNB. I know I'll have to use an adapter for the 5000.

Should I talk to the installer and get him to install the DP LNB? Is this possible? How do they know what to install? Is it based on the info they have on my account?  Would be interested in hearing any and all opinions.

 What to do, what to do...

If they have a Legacy twin they will install it the information on your account guides them in what is needed. They don't want to spend any more than necessary to service the customer and all current models will work with Legacy LNBFs.

Thanks for the info; what can I do (besides buy the equipment myself) to upgrade the LNBF to the latest version? I've asked them to install the second dish (61.5/must carry) also. Will this have any impact on what they install?

Does Dish Mover cover the 2nd dish (61.5)? I was under the impression the second dish was not included in the dishmover package. I'll be moving in the next 6 months so the info would be helpfull.

But if you bring up "Must Carry", they may just put their hands in the air and say "Ok" about 61.5.

I mean pretty much anyone in a carried locals DMA, can just mention "Must Carry" and the 61.5 or 148 goes up without question. Threathen to complain to the FCC if they don't and Charlie may drive out personally to install :D

As far as "must carry" goes, you're right. However, I called back after making the DishMover appointment and asked for the 61.5 install. They told me that if I added that, the appointment would have to be re-done (at a later date). The CSR advised me to ask when the installer came out, and see if they would do it then.
