Just wondering if anyone see's any red flags with this install. I currently have two HR20-700's. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. This morning I had Ironwood come out and re activate an old HR10-250 and hook it up to a standard def t.v. in my garage. It's mainly so my wife can work out and watch her programs.
The techs disconnected the current cables and installed a 6 x 8 Zinwell Wide Band Multiswitch. They ran all the existing cables through the multiswitch and added the two new lines that ran into the garage and to the HR10-250. Called to activate the old DVR and that was that.
The two HR20-700's are working fine and the HR10-250 in the garage is working fine also. Seems like they did a good job.
I have the protection plan so I understand it as I will only be charged $4.99 for adding another box. I own the HR10-250 outright so will I only be charged for the DVR service. Not sure how that works. Is it true the first box is free and all boxes after that are $4.99. Thx.

It sounds good to me... as long as they inspected the standing cables for damage.

What exactly does that mean? On one the t.v.'s in the bedroom we were having a searching for signal problem and he traced it back to a corroded connector on one of the old cables and replaced the connector and the problem was gone.
I've tightened all the connections at the multiswitch because some were loose. These guys do such half ass work. That's why I was concerned about the hookup but signal strength is strong and all three recievers seem to be working properly.
The Ironwood guys don't seem like the sharpest guys to me.

All-in-all it looks like you had a pretty good installation experience. Glad to hear everything is working well.

Did they run grounds like they are supposed 2 ? I know my Ironwood installer was not the swiftest of the bunch as well.

If all the tech had was a WO for an Upgrade, thats all he's gonna do cuz it don't pay enough to do much more.
You know, I have nothing but good things to say about the Ironwood crew in Phoenix. Personally speaking -- I have had nothing but success stories from them.
I cannot say for others that I know. I have heard some horror stories. Most of the time, believe it or not -- it is because people getting the installation were not AV savvy.
I personally watch everything those people come out and I am in constant supervision. Why? Because if I see something as they are doing it, it is alot easier to correct it then, then calling and trying to get them out later.
It sounds like they did a good job.
I had two different techs on my recent upgrade. The first was terrible and the 2nd was excellent.
It appears that there are SOME good Ironwood techs.

You will pay the mirror fee for the HR10-250
Sounds good to me and and cudos on helping the wife stay in shape. ;)

Connectors fail for a reason, just replacing it may not be a permanent solution. If you can, I suggest that you take a picture and post it up here. That may help us help you.
