That comic is so right on. I always laugh to myself when after patiently giving an automated system info about myself, my account, my problem, etc. the first words out of the CSR's mouth when I get to a live human being are the very same questions. What's the point of gathering that information originally if you only have to get it a second time?
I think Dilbert works at D*.

The automated system is supposed to pop your information up onto the account manager on the computer.
But the rep still has to verify who you are...
Thats why they dont always ask the exact same info, sometimes its your name and address/whatever rather than phone number

All csr's are required to verify your information: full address, second phone, email address, etc. It's less points for us if we don't do it, that's why sometimes you get asked the same even after a transfer.

My guys in tech support actually are in the US and don't work off a script. They actually listen to the customer and find out what the problem is before starting to troubleshoot.
