View Full Version : Torchwood - "They Keep Killing [...]" - 11/05/2007 (HD-Net air date)
I forgot a lot about the premiere episode of Torchwood, but this episode brought it all back. I was surprised Suzie had everything planned so far in advance... and I'm still not sure WHY she did it. She gave the amnesia pills to that guy for 6 months, and then gave directions that if she wasn't heard from for 6 months, he would kill people, just so Suize would be revived. But ... why? She was psychotic in the premiere episode, but .. couldn't she just have quit Torchwood and live psychotically without first having to die to leave Torchwood?
By the way .. what was up with Ianto and Jack at the end, about the stopwatch? Jack appears to be an equal-opportunist when it comes to having "fun", but I didn't think Ianto was into it, and I can't think of any other reason Ianto and Jack wanted to have some "alone time" together. :p
I really liked this episode. My favorite so far. I think it had a Star Trek:TNG style.
As for as why she did it. I think she planned so in case she died, for any reason, she would be revived. I don't think killing herself was part of the plan. She just did it when she felt cornered as a way out. I would be interested in knowing if the episodes where all written at the same time with a planned vision or if they decided to "bring her back" later on and had to fit things together.
Obviously, a planned out story is always more fulfilling, at least for me. Like Babilon 5, nothing happened in any episode without a reason.
The Ianto/Jack exchange was a little bit puzzling to me too because it came out of nowhere. Maybe more will be elaborated later.

Jack is definitely bi-sexual. Been established since he showed up on Doctor Who.
As for Ianto. There was a previous scene where Jack kissed Ianto (was it to revive him?). Evidently, Ianto liked it as there was a bit of flirtation ever since.
