Center Picture allows you to move the image in any direction:
My H20 has this feature and it is perfect for channels like CNBC HD where there is info across the top of the screen. My HR20 hooked to my Phillips LCD and my HR21 hooked to my Toshiba HD both cut the top off of CNBC HD . Anyone know of any other way to move the image down on my TV screen.
Thanks

My LCD's both have the ability to slightly adjust for overscan. That probably is what is wrong. Check the set-up menu's in your TV's.

Definately not an overscan issue.. The entire image just needs to be lowered by 1/8th of an inch so I can see the very top.
Thanks

I am not certain how you would know if it was an overscan issue or not. I have not had any problems with the Sony, the Sammy I had to very slightly adjust. Others here have had similar problems and it was due to overscan.
I too would like to see the "centering" function on the HR20/21. It seems odd to me that the H20 has the function and the HR20 does not.

That's the first thing I went to fix when I moved from an H20 to HR20.
I was surprised it wasn't there!
Sigh...

Strange, I don't need a centering adjustment. My overscan is set to 3-5%, the display is centered, and with either a H20/21 or my HR20s, I have no need to "adjust" it for any of the channels or banners, tickers shown. hummmm

The way I understand it Overscan would be additional information displayed that I dont want.. I have had this at certain times and it is not what I am talking about. I am specifically talking about the entire image being shifted upwards by aprox 1/8" .. I have to assume this is a problem out there because the H20 has the ability to fix it.

While the setting is in the H20 and some older receivers, "I think" if you were to use the HDNet test pattern or another one, you would "see" what the problem is. Overscan should be equal on all sides, but "factory settings" aren't always. The "centering" is a users "band-aid" for a TV that isn't adjusted as well as it could [should] be.
I'm sure if you could see how well your display is [or isn't] centered, then you would understand [and not miss the band-aid].

I'm not sure what you mean by "additional information". Overscan is the amount of "zoom" that your TV applies to the frame. Some TV's have a 1:1 pixel mode (as in 0% overscan), which is sometimes good for video games, or when using your display as a PC monitor, but is almost always bad for television viewing.
It could be that there is slightly less overscan than is appropriate, or it could be slightly de-centered. While a function in the HR20 that allowed you to re-center the image would likely allow you to fix this, it doesn't presently exist. You may be able to adjust your TV now, be it with an overscan adjustment or with a re-centering.
As was previously suggested, I would recommend that you record the HDNet test pattern to determine what your problem really is before making any adjustments. It will air for 10 minutes this Saturday morning (11/17) at 3:30am EST on channel 79.
Some displays have these adjustments in a user accessible menu, some have them in the service menu. If yours is in the service menu, tread very carefully, as there are things you can do that will brick your HDTV. If you are not completely comfortable with this, get a service tech out to make the adjustments.
And, of course, :welcome_s to DBSTalk!

Thanks for all the info. That was what I was wondering, if the issue is with my display or the box. Sounds like it is with the display. I am pretty sure the setting is in my service menu. The only strange issue is that I have the same problem on all 3 of my HD displays. Of course the one hooked to the H20 was an easy fix (with the band aid). I will dig deeper into the other two displays and try to figure it out.
Thanks for everyones input.
