Its been so long since I signed up for Dish I cannot remember what all I had to go through to get started. My friend wants to sign up now but has no credit cards, etc. What exactly does Dish need when they set someone up? I remember pretty much just giving them my mailing address, etc but now I am told that you must pass a credit check, etc and that you NEED a credit card, etc. Is there a way my friend can sign up or not??? Any advice? Is there a way he can prepay for the 1st month to get started without a credit card???

Dunno! Have your friend call Dish and find out. Won't hurt to ask.

if you BUY the equiptement outright this avoids the CC issue altogether. E has had troubles with credit challenged folks getting rental plan, getting it for a few months, shut off no pay and disappearing.

You need a name, physical (911) and mailing address, phone number, and it used to be a social security number but I think they stopped this requirement. No phone line connection is needed unless you have multiple receivers on the account or ppv.
