I have a problem because at my location transponder 29 on 110 has insufficient signal level to lock, consequently I cannot download the Programme Guide.

I have found if I disconnect the 110 dish and perform a check switch with just the 119 satellite feed the 501 does download the short two day guide when it does not see the Dish 500 setup.

Does anyone know if there is a way to fool the 501 into thinking that it is not a Dish 500 installation so it will download the short guide rather than trying to download the long guide from 110 trtansponder 29?

You can get 119, but not 110? I find that very odd from the Caribbean, since you have a better angle at 110. Must be a beam shape thing.

How big a dish for 110 is giving you insufficient signal?
Let's assume it's aimed for peak signal. Have you
considered trying something even bigger? It might be
the most satisfactory solution for you.

My dish is 1.8 meters, it is definately a footprint thing, I get excellent results at 119 with an identical dish, most transponders are in the high nineties or low hundreds whereas at 110 E*VIII transponders are in the mid seventies and the E*V transponders I can lock are from 45 to 55. The ones I can´t lock are in the low forties or I see no signal at all. Definately a 2.4 meter dish would solve the problem but it costs about three times as much as a 1.8 meter.

Anyone outside the DBS footprint might consider himself/herself
"lucky" to get anything at all!
