Hi, everyone I am new to Dish , and am trying to recieve Hd locals, I purchased a HD radio shack antenna/ indoor/ outdoor square bookshelf type have 722 ota in attic I cannot pick up any signal at all during a local scan not 1 I have redone the connections several times about 28 ft of cabling to 722, Is this antenna no good or what would you sugest. Installer left a signal meter at my home he was supose to pick it up 4 days ago and has not when i plug it in to the anteena line it shows a 30- but the meter is confusing any help would be apreciated Bob

How far are you from the towers? Do you have an HDTV tuner that you can hook up to see if it picks up any stations. My guess at this point is that either the antenna is not set up properly, Picking up a lot of multi-pathing, You are getting too weak of a signal for the 722 to lock, you have a bad cable, or the 722 as a Bad OTA port. I am sure I left a few things out.. but those are common problems.
First thing to do. Go to antennaweb.org and AVSForum HD local forums and try and determine if you have the right antenna for your installation. If you have an HD TV with a tuner run the cable to that and give it a try to see if you get anything.. Also walk around the neighborhood and see if you have any neighbors with antennas and try and duplicate their configuration.
