View Full Version : HR21-700 Save 'My Playlist' Sort prefs?
How the hell do you get the HR21 to always sort My Playlist alphabetically? The HR21 keeps going back to 'list by...' 'Date (New)'.
Do I really need to re-sort it every time I bring it up? Hopefully this is operator error or I am missing something obvious.
Rant: I've had D* DVRs for years, since Ultimate TV. Seems the software gets worse with each new generation of DVR. UltimateTV>HDVR2>R10>HR10-250>HR21-700.
Thanks in advance for the help.
There's an "advanced" option to remember the PLAYLIST search default. Do a keyword SEARCH for "IAMANEDGECUTTER". It will return no results, but after the SEARCH is completed, you can simultaneously press the two center buttons on the HR20 front-panel to bring up the ADVANCED menu.
Now that I think about it, it's possible you no longer have to do the "EDGECUTTER" search. You might want to try just pressing the two center buttons first. /steve

Press Menu-->Search-->Keyword-->type "IAMANEDGECUTTER"-->Continue-->All-->when it finds nothing press and hold the menu and info button on the front of the HR21 together for two seconds and let go. A hidden menu will pop up and you can turn sort by on.
Then go back into "My Playlist" and select the option you want and it will save.
Thanks for the help. It worked.
Why exactly would that be an easter egg?
I was expecting more things in the advanced menu. Any other hidden menus?
Cheers

That is the only one for the HR21 so far. The HR20's have one for DoD (VOD) but the HR21 does not have the software yet for it.
Not sure of the reason why it is still in a hidden menu. I thought by now it would be in the regular menu or when you change the sort by it would automatically save without doing that.
Earl/Tom and idea's why it is still like that?

I can't even see why it would be in a menu at all. I expected it to just remember my last sort preferences.
I can't even see why it would be in a menu at all. I expected it to just remember my last sort preferences.I think it's that way in case you temporarily do an "unusual" sort, like one for a particular category, or "expiration" first or last. Your point is well-taken, though. It's easy enough to switch back to your preferred sort via the menu.
My real gripe with the PLAYLIST is that it doesn't remember the last cursor position when you return to it. I hate that it always jumps to the top of the list. Just my .02. /steve
