Hello all! :-)
Have had absolutely NO problems with my R15-500 up until this last software update around Thurs (Nov 15th)....
The unit will prompt to download new data (running fine)... When told to download, unit recycles and attempts download... Stays at 0%... After approximately 30 minutes, unit will timeout and return to normal programming...
Signal strength is averaging about 89 on most transponders... I swapped sat inputs; no effect...
When unit is running in NORMAL mode, at startup I enter 02468... Unit will go to download screen and WILL DOWNLOAD update normally (0% to 100% normal)... Power will recycle but software level will remain at 115C... After 15 minutes, the vicious cycle will restart again....
Directv keeps 'escalating' the issue but no one seems to know what is up...
Is there a way to keep it at this software level? The unit has been running beautifully up to this point....
I did do a reformat last night as a last resort... but of course, no effect... (Didn't think it would... Figured it would just update the EEPROM and not the drive data...)
What am I missing here? :(

-) No there is no way to force keep the unit at a specific version.
-) Doing a reformat has nothing to do with the software download (As they are two different areas of the system)
-) Try unplugging and waiting 30 minutes, then plugging it in again... if that doesn't work, then your system is having difficulty seeing the SAT stream
And you may have to have the system replaced

Thanks for the quick reply.....
I figured there was no way to keep the unit at a specific version... but it was worth a shot... :-)
On the waiting 30 minutes: I forgot to mention that I did leave the unit unplugged overnight.... but I will try it again....
Interesting though: While the unit is operating normally, I can force a software update (02468) and it does upgrade... Goes from 0% to 100% on the software download, then recycles and operates normally for about 30 minutes before reprompting.... Does this also pull from the same SAT stream?
What is the typical warranty (if any) from Directv on this unit?

If that does not work try swaping your sat lines betweek tuner 1 & tuner 2 for my brother in law was have this problem of the update staying stuck at 0% and when I swaped the sat lines it completed the upgrade fine.

The unit you have is most likely leased, so you should not have an issue getting a new one (replacement) from DirecTV. If you don't have the protection plan, they'll probably make you pay for the shipping for a new unit. If you have the protection plan, you're completely covered and shouldn't have any expense in replacing it.

And if you don't have the protection plan they will cheerfully ship you a replacement for a $20 shipping/handling charge. AND also cheerfully add a 2 year commitment to your account ($480 pro rated fee if you cancel early) which they may or may not mention....

UPDATE: This is interesting... Looks like the software updated to current on its own last night without any problems... ver. 1169
Gotta love it....
Thanks for the replies!!!! I will definitely keep this place in mind in the future... :-)
