View Full Version : Same elevation/skew for AU9??
Hi, I've got a couple HR21's on their way but have my AU9 dish now and would like to pre-install it while I wait for the HR-21's.
I currently have two philips DTV Tivos so I can only get the elevation and skew settings for a phase3 (3 lnb dish).
Are these the same for the AU9, 5 lnb dish?
If not if someone would be kind enough to share the elevation, skew and azimuth for zip 14092 it would be greatly appreciated - I've searched and found many online 'sat calculators' but non specific for an AU9.
Also anything specia needed to use an AU9 on an old SD philips dtivo? Ie just leave it at the 3 lnb settings and it will 'ignore' the other 2 lnbs?
Thanks in advance!!

The D* site lists:
Elevation: 35.6
Azimuth: 220.3
Tilt "should be" the same as what you have now.
Do remember that the Phase III is centered on the 110 SAT, while the AU9 is centered on the 101 SAT.
Just use the 3 LNB setting for your old box.

Thank you and i didnt realize they centered on different sats -very helpful!
And I saw what D* has on their site but was concerned it said it was for a standard dish (the old single 101 lnb).
I guess I assumed the elevation and skew would have to be different considering we're now hitting 5 sats.

Skew or tilt is to line up on the SAT above the equator, so whether three or five of them, it's your location that determines it. The spread from 119 to 101 is the biggest factor and the two more degrees for 99 is insignificant.

I wish there was a web site where we could look these up for the 5-LNB dishes.

I sense these 5 lnb dishes are not as DIY friendly as the others and suspect dtv would prefer 'their' installers install them and have purposely kept installation instructions/alignment tools off of their site.
However, given my past experiences with 'their' installers and their extra costs because it needs a special bracket, its too high -we charge extra for that etc. I'd much rather do it myself... and know its done right with a little help from this site!

But this is very helpful... thanks!

I just rerun guided setup at home/office with the new zip code.
Get results then hit the back button and put in the original zip to finish.
