I'm thinking of getting a compression tool, and after researching which to get I 'm totally confused. Different brands work with certain brands, sizes ( 19.3mm & 20.3 mm) and types and then there's the dual, tri and quad question. I didn't have a problem choosing a crimp tool. Is there a decent inexpensive all purpose compression tool that I can get??

Thanx:confused:

Home Depot or Lowes has the one you want for a good price. I would recomend the stripper combo kit or separate. It makes it so much easier. The difference in sizes has to do with cable types and the more expensive ones have insert adapters.

My preference is Paladin but I normally use a cheap ($20) Ideal one from Fry's, Lowe's and/or Home Depot.

Yes I have the Data Shark kit (the one in the plastic blue case) from Home Depot and it works great. Works with all compression fittings. Comes with strippers and a cable cutter.

The (cable) strippers are the best. Making cables without them such a pain.

I got the Paladin because it will work on a wide range of connectors and I have used Paladin's regular crimp tool with several dies for a few years and like it a lot. The compression tool has worked well for me...it also comes with a set-up chart for a LOT of different connectors so you dont have to guess.

BNC isn't old yet. It's still used on almost every security camera and DVR system out there. I install them daily.

Third on that. For the few times a year I crimp a cable, the Data Shark cuts the mustard for me!

Yes, they do. I think they come 10/pack and 25/pack, or something like that.
