H20-600 x2042 runs cooler??

Is it just me or does the -600 run cooler with x2042? I know that's highly unlikely but the top of the receiver case doesn't nearly burn my hand now.

That would be a nice improvement. I'll check mine when it finally updates.

Currently with the x2024 firmware, my -600 uses 32 watts when it's "off" and 34 watts when it's "on".

Update: I see no power consumption decrease with the new firmware.

I do recall a post by Earl, I believe, that said DirecTV was going to try to come up with a software change that would shift certain functions to other internal components to try to make the H20-600 run cooler. I have received the 2042, and will try turning off the USB fan I am using to see if the receiver now runs cooler than before. That would be nice.

OK-I unplugged the fan and it started getting very warm to the touch in just a few minutes, so I plugged the fan back in. Oh well....YMMV
