I'm selling some Dish Network receivers on Ebay, and a potential buyer asked me for the smartcard and receiver numbers.
Is there any danger in giving out these numbers?
No, they are just checking to see if you have any balance due on those receivers. :)

I have heard that someone could hack using your numbers or could simulate your numbers for ppv or something like this if it is given out. I am not sure though.

Someone could, but if they've got enough expertise to hack in new numbers, then they have enough expertise to not have to bother with paying for PPV in the first place. Plus their home number would show up in the call logs so they would get caught.

Do they really need the receiver and smart card number? I would think just the receiver number would be enough.
