Hey gang.  I've got a SW64 feeding two receivers right now.  Currently, I'm getting my locals off-air from my antenna.  I have an active signal amp on my off-air antenna line just before it hits the splitter to go to the various TVs.  I'm diplexing the sat and antenna signals that run to one of my sat recievers so I only have to use one line.  On the other reveiver (the receiver plugged-into the power inserter port of the SW64) I'm running independent lines for sat and off-air antenna.  I would like to diplex the signals for this receiver too, but the guy who installed the SW64 seemed to think that might be dangerous.  He thought there might be a problem diplexing the power-inserter line with an off-air antenna signal that's coming from an active amp.

This seems a little fishy to me, but I thought I'd ask you experts before I go and blow up my receiver!

Thanks,

TimR

You may not have a receiver problem, but you'd be running juice through the same line as the active signal amp. Could damage the cable quickly or even one of the power sources if you have too much on that one line.

CNSF, thanks for the tip. Has anyone else tried this? Anyone else having success? Failure?

The amp I'm using is only boosting the signal by 25db, I can't imagine the voltage is that high.

DONT do it, cable is cheap. Flakey SW64s are a hassle. You were warned.

NEVER swap cables on a 64 without powering off EVERYTHING! inserter, reeceivers, the wholds 9 yards.

I would NOT try to diplex Port 1 on your SW64 unless the power insertor for the SW64 is right next to the switch itself - so that there is nothing but unpowered coax between the 2 diplexors.
