Man that stinks. I hate when I get hooked on a new show and then never get to see how it turns out. Did anyone watch Will Traveler? Man I was upset they never brought closure to that either.

I started the season liking this show and while I still watch it's been slowing going downhill for me. I could probably enjoy it more if there was some explaination s to why he keeps jumping.

I can see where you're coming from. Journeyman, to me at least, is a little hard to follow at times. Going from present day to the past back to present day to some different time in the past can make the subplots difficult to follow, but overall I enjoy the show. And what relevance do some of the people he helps in the past have on his present day life? Like in 'Winterland', why was he chosen to save Abby?

I liked it for the first few episodes and then found myself not really caring whether I watched it or not. My wife really likes it so she will be upset that it is not going to make it. I told her early on that I didn't think it would catch on with the masses that were needed to keep it on the air.

Definitely the show I've wanted to watch the most this year. It will be sad if it goes away.

While I'm glad they decided to bring it back for 7 episodes, I am still mad they pulled it in the first place.

Sit her in front of the computer with this thread open. That why you won't have to say a word and she can blame me :)

In the new issue of EW they say that there is hope for shows like Journeyman if the writers strike continues because they won't have a traditional pilot season and they will be more likely to renew a series that is already on the air. They say that it is averaging 7.5 million viewers a week, which isn't anything to sneeze at for a show that is on at 10pm. I think they are just upset that it isn't holding on to more of Heroes numbers.

I'd like to be positive as well. The show has really drawn me in and I think as more people take the time to look at it they will be drawn in as well.

I found a very good read:

I would do anything to keep this show alive.

This is my favorite show of the year. It keeps getting more and more interesting with each episode.

What sucks even more is that they will probably keep that POS Bionic Woman on for the full year. Not only is the writing horrific but the acting is just as bad.............

I have never watched Journeyman but I also have never seen a story about time travel that wasn't full of holes and unanswered questions. The subject matter of time travel cannot avoid unexplained situations. To have understandable logic in time travel stories always seems to be impossible.

Yes, ambiguity can be expected in these types of stories. I really enjoy the different interpretations in various time-travel stories, though. I even enjoyed a really crappy time-travel story that was on Sci-Fi a couple of years back .. SlipStream .. that was despite bad acting and a poorly formed story line.

I love Journeyman, why can't they just put the show on Sci-Fi? This show can't cost that much to make. I bet BSG is alot more expensive to make.

Doug Brott
11-25-07, 10:30 AM
After reading the article above, apparently the stage changes are helping drive the cost of the show up. I'm hopeful that it will return, but a 12-episode season one may be as much as we get.

Drew2k
11-25-07, 10:46 AM
I think as far as costs go, Journeyman could suffer the same fate as Sliders, where the same set was used over and over again to portray different worlds. On Journeyman, Dan travels back to different times within a well-known city and there are a lot of location shoots and period elements brought into each "journey". The cost of that will add up and if SciFi takes it, they're going to want some cost savings ...

Too bad Trio disappeared. There is still a need for a home for "brilliant but cancelled" series. Or at least series that may have started out slow but really started to hit their stride...when the ax fell. Like Invasion.

This show was just getting good, too. Among all the people I know (aside from my father), everyone has said how much they liked Journeyman among all the new fall TV shows. My father couldn't follow the time shifts.

Time travel itself is a concept that has given may of us headaches! :hurah:

The show is not dead yet folks. There are at a minimum 3 episodes left and a 4th should be made available as well it's just not scheduled at this point.

The Writers strike may, in fact give this show a second chance in the fall simply because there will not be time for a "pilot" season this year. I'm still holding out hope on this one.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'll be surprised if they actually air. I can't count how many times over the past few years a show was put on hiatus with word from the network saying new episodes will be aired sometime in the future and I'm still waiting. Now with the writers strike, who knows, they may air, but if NBC had full intentions of airing them I don't think they would have put another show in it's timeslot or they would come out with a definite date and time.

I really don't understand why NBC doesn't just move all their programming that rating don't deem fit to survive to Universal HD. I mean both Surface and Conviction (two NBC shows I watched that lasted one season) are constantly repeated on UHD and I think each series was 13 episodes total.

With the way NBC shows have been popping up on the other NBC/Uni stations, I would hope that yes, it gets re-run on either Universal, USA, SciFi or Bravo. My vote would be SciFi for obvious reasons.

All 12 episodes to air according to article at AICN:

Journeyman Fans--

NBC has decided to air the 12th episode ("Perfidia") on Wednesday, December 19th at ten o'clock. That means our 10th episode will air on Monday the 10th ("Home by Another Way"), the 11th will air on 17th ("The Hanged Man").

The decision to air the 12th episode had a lot to do with the passion of our fans through SaveJourneyman.net, the online petition and letters and emails to NBC executives.

And is it true you can vote once a day for the People's Choice Awards?

There's still no news on our long term future, but we can promise you this: three terrific episodes inside of ten days. Oh, yeah, and you'll get some answers, too.

Your comments and pro-active attempts to save the show are very much appreciated by me and my fellow Executive Producer Alex Graves, Kevin McKidd and the cast, writers and crew. But more importantly, it's working.

But don't rest. We need you. We want a back nine--and beyond.

Thanks again,

Kevin Falls

All this passion for this show has got me interested in it again. I will definitely sign the petition and catch the remaining episodes now. One more veiwer can't hurt!

Kevin is sounding more positive now than he was last week .. maybe the 2-parter developed the "interest" that NBC was looking for. I can hope, right?

This just in:

"LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC is bringing back "The Singing Bee" while newcomer "Journeyman" will wrap its 13-episode run with a pair of episodes during the week of December 17.

Both developments, confirmed via listings updates this afternoon, come as the Peacock prepares to unveil its January lineup.

As for specifics, "Journeyman" will air its 12th and 13th installments on Monday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 19 at 10:00/9:00c respectively, leading out of two-hour episodes of "Clash of the Choirs" on both nights.

NBC has yet to commit to any episodes beyond its initial 13-episode order despite asking for three additional scripts last month.

The lack of a decision isn't a result of the strike however as fellow freshman "Chuck" and "Life" each received their back nine orders on Monday."

There are actually thirteen one-hour episodes, "BLOWBACK" that aired on 11-26-07 was the tenth hour to air. There are three remaining. I think Kevin Falls is counting the two-part episode as only one, therefore he keeps referring to the last three episodes as 10, 11 and 12.

I was number 694 and added a comment that the show should live on Sci-Fi if NBC does not want to renew.
