I'm getting HD today. Should I go buy a HDMI cable or will they bring one with the new receiver?

There should be a HDMI cable in the box with the receiver.

Agreed, there should be an HDMI cable in the box. I think my first two did not, but that was over a year ago .. the subsequent 3 HDMI receivers that I received all had HDMI cables with them.

My HR20 didn't come with HDMI either, but that was 2006. If the HR20s come with these now, how long is the D* supplied HDMI cable (only 6')?

If you need to buy one check out http://www.monoprice.com. Monster cables are way overpriced, I even saw some HDMI cables for around $10 at Big Lots.

My HDMI cable came with the TV set, not the HR20.

I believe that the HDMI that comes with the HR20 is 6 foot. And I second the idea of using monoprice if you need something else. Very economical and good/great quality.

The only time I would ever recommend ANYONE buying Monster Cables is if they have a monster they need to tie up and don't want him getting loose - for electronic purposes, just a waste of good money.

it comes with the receiver. and don't let the installer try to sale it to you if the box looked like it was opened.

DirecTV started putting them in H20 and HR20 boxes in Jan 2007, though my local HSP didn't actually get those receivers in stock until April. Prior to that, H20s came with an RF remote and no HDMI cable. Now, the RF remote is optional, and HDMIs are included.

IIRC, the HDMI cable is actually only 4.5' long, so many people will need a longer cable. Monoprice or BlueJeansCables are much better options than Monster Cable, for sure.

All 3 of my HD receivers came with a HDMI. I still had to buy a 15 footer for the run to my plasma though.

If you need to buy one check out http://www.monoprice.com...I love their cables. Incredible prices, great quality, very long or very short and everything in between. I have bought all kinds of different cables from them for various projects.
