About 2-3 weeks ago our site mgr. sent out a memo saying DOD was available for the hr20-700 and it was projected to be available for the hr20-100 by the end of Nov.

1. Is DOD available for the hr20-100 yet
2. I am on Comcast 6 mb cable using a Belkin 4 port router, (after spead test only puts the speed at about 3 mb/sec) Is this going to be good enough to run DOD?
3. If the bandwidth is good enough can i just run cat 5 or cat 6 from my existing router to the receiver (about 50')? Or is the a "directv approved" router that i will need to get?

Thanks,
Phillip

1. Yes - it is available for both HR20s on national release software
2. Yes - download times will vary with network traffice but it is good enough
3. Yes just run your cat 5e/6 to your router. Make sure you get the right ip and run the network test. If you have a wireless router you can use other wireless adapters to connect to your router. There are plenty of networking links and help in here if you have any problems.

Once you are networked you will have to reset your receiver for it to know and then it will call home via the network. IT can also take up to a few days to have the VOD content in the guide download and you may need to call Directv to activate it.

DOD seems to work well [or close] with a 3 Mb/s connection, but not all connections are equal.
3 Mb/s 100% of the time will [or has for me] let you download at close to 1:1 [min of download/min of SD programing]. If you let the buffer fill for a few min, you can start watching the program.
Not all cable modem systems give you 100%. Cable "time shares" which can/will extend your download time depending on how many other users are on your node.
My cable system is poorly managed, so they've over sold my node. This has caused my "time share" to vary from 80% down to below 10%. I've downloaded SD DOD at just better than 1:1 at 2 AM and taken over 10 hours for a 1:30 long show on a weekend during the day.
