I don't know about Cincy - but it looks like all the HD locals are off the air in the SF Bay Area right now.

Anyone else? is this a national problem?

Here is the problem in the Cincy area. Ocho Cinco is running things.

Don't have a good answer, but my guess is that someone is asleep at the switch. This is not a D* issue as I have the same issue OTA. Unfortunately, local HD quality in Cincy is not that great across the board. Too many sub channel and CBS doesn't even have DD 5.1 decoder.

No HD from WPMI-DT (15-1, OTA), Mobile, AL/Pensacola, FL market. My guess is that there was a distribution problem for the HD stream and many stations have not manually reset. Sunday night-- no one on duty!

Problem solved by WPMI engineer about 9 PM. Says there was a problem with NBC transmission.

There is a network receiver issue at WLWT-DT and they're currently working on it:

...and CBS doesn't even have DD 5.1 decoder.

Which is something I emailed to them about some time back. They responded to me within an hour with:

We at Local 12 would be thrilled to provide our viewers with 5.1 sound.
In fact, I am one of the most vocal advocates for acquiring the hardware
to provide this service!

At present, however, we do not offer that service even though the
program may be available from the CBS network.

I am sure that, within the near future, we will be able to satisfy your
request. Unfortunately, sometimes "hard costs" prohibit us from
implementing these new services as quickly as we would like. Unlike our
colleagues at the other stations, Local 12 is also producing and
delivering an additional newscast to another station ("Local 12 at 10 on
My 64") as well as airing a second TV station (CinCW). As you can
imagine, neither of these projects are inexpensive to produce (and have
therefore required us to be more prudent in pursuing other, equally
valid programs such as the 5.1 sound system).

Again, we do want to add the 5.1 sound system as soon as we can. I am
sorry that it is taking longer than we would have liked.

Thanks again for your comments.

Sincerely,

Hank

So, once again, it appears to be management stopping the engineers from doing a good job. Are we suprised at this?

Man it was bad enough that the Bungals play there best game of the year, and it was broadcast in SD and then the Sunday night game on NBC was a snafu HD wise.

I got this update from the WLWT Programming department this morning. If they do get it today (must be Sonic UPS or something) I wonder how long it takes to hook up.

We experienced a major failure of our NBC High Definition receiver on
Saturday and were unable to secure a replacement from the network in time
for last night's Sunday Night Football broadcast due to the holiday
weekend. We apologize for the game being available only in standard
definition and are efforting to resolve the problem ASAP. We just convened
another conference call with the folks at NBC in New York and they are
sending us a new piece of equipment which we hope will arrive by this
evening.

Rest assured that next Sunday night's Bengals vs Steelers game on NBC will
be available on WLWT-HD. Thanks for watching WLWT and NBC and we look
forward to resuming our HD programming very shortly.

...I wonder how long it takes to hook up.

More than a couple of minutes, apparently, since none of the NBC prime time schedule was in HD and they were running a little apology crawler under Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman.

And, on a side note, you just have to love the made-up vocabulary that media PR people have:

...and are efforting to resolve the problem ASAP.

From Dictionary.com:
No results found for efforting.
