I already have read the numerous posts about FCC allowances etc. I have it worked out with management to get a first floor with a southern facing patio (other tenants nearby have dishes). That's not what I'm questioning. I'm about to move into an apartment temporarily (7 months) from a house. I'm moving for a new job. Anyway, I have D* HD service and the AT9 sidecar type dish. I'll install everything myself rather than deal with installers who might or might not actually install anything when they get there...being that it is an apartment. I plan on using a tripod as I have seen this successfully used for a 5LNB install with a little work. My question is this: Every tripod install of a 5LNB I have seen has been a Slimline dish. Should I take my AT9 Sidecar dish down and take it with me or should I just buy a slimline. A hundred bucks might not be a lot to some...but it's still a hundred bucks I could save. Does the sidecar dish weigh that much more than a Slimline? I've had no trouble whatsoever out of the SIdecar dish. So, what would you do?
By the way, I feel pretty confident that I can get this set up myself. It has been a while since I last did it...and it was with E* way back on a simpler dish, but I still feel like it's doable.
Suggestions?
