Not exactly sure which forum to put this in, so I'll try here. Mods please move it if you like.
We've been letting "Shark" build up on our HR20-700. I have 7 weeks worth now, all recorded (through a series link) on CBS 80. I am pretty sure this is the NY national feed.
On every single episode, I've got 20-22 minutes of "Cold Case" before Shark starts, on a 1 hour recording, so I've lost the last 20-22 minutes of Shark. One episode I could understand, some bad guide data, whatever. But 7 weeks in a row? We never.....ever, watch live TV, so I have no idea if the channel is actually starting the show late, or if the recorder is starting early.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it isolated to my recorder? (I am running a CE, which could be a complicating factor)

The problem is that CBS insists that the 4:00 NFL game will only run 3 hrs. It never has and never will with all the commercials. You'll have to pad your recording with an extra hour to be safe. 30 minutes works sometimes but not always.
Your problem is caused by the network. Sunday football usually runs late, so CBS justs starts all their programming late. I add an hour to the recording time for Shark. It's a little inconvenient, but seems to solve the problem. Sorry you lost all those endings. :(

Yes, it is a network problem. I have a series link for "Cold Case" and have it set to record for two hours to make sure I get all the program.

CBS hasn't caught on that they need to put some kind of buffer program between the late NFL game and their regularly scheduled programming like Fox does. They just assume that they have a loyal enough following that people will hang around and watch 60 Minutes right after the game and then stay on CBS for the rest of the night. I've all but stopped recording any shows on CBS on Sunday nights for their stupidity. Needless to say I haven't seen 60 Minutes in years, which is a downright shame since I've always liked the show (the entire show and not just a piece of it). I do record Shark but I pad the recording by an extra 30 minutes to make sure I don't miss it. If I do, then there's always bittorrent to fall back on.:D

This post amazes me (as did another of the same flavor at TCF). Where have you been the last what, twenty years? The big problem with CBS is the whole 60 minutes thing. The most they will EVER do to mess with that is to start it late. No way will they push it to the next hour and eliminate TAR or anything else. Nor will they join it in progress. As a result, as has been the case for YEARS during NFL season (and as the result of some golf and other sports they air on Sundays), everything gets pushed back. I've taken to padding everything an hour (of which that full amount was needed on the 18th!) on Sunday night. I actually have the space to do that now. Before that, I was padding "Without a Trace" an hour and letting things run from recording to recording and watching that way.
Nothing at all wrong with guide data. :)
