View Full Version : wb616 multi switch install
I am sorry if this has been answered, but i searched and couldnt find it. I am replacing my wb68 with the wb616 this weekend. Since this is a powered multi switch, i plan on using rg6 cable into the multi switch(which is mouted on the pole my dish is on - all on my deck outside) and the power supply in the house. My question is . . . is there any kind of protection i need to use to cover the connection on the multi-switch to protect it from rain/snow? I was thinking of using a piece of plastic, possible a garbage bag and taping the end on the wire and multi swith to help make it water proof. Is this necessary or am i worrying too much. Thanks in advance for any thought or suggestions.

Anything is goint to be better than nothing for weather protection. Well, assuming of course that whatever you do, doesn't collect and fill with water.
Anyway, why is the switch out on the pole instead of on the side of the house, or better yet in the house? Out on the pole is a stupid place. Besides being more exposed than needed, any additional lines that you need to run in the future need to be run from there.
thats how the installer set it up. were in a town house, so maybe he had to do it that way. If I was to move it, I'd have to re-wire the whole house. I know that the multi switch says indoor/outdoor, so hopefully it wont be a problem
