Zinwell 6x8 multiswitch required?

I am helping a buddy install the 5lnb dish this weekend. He has a powered 5x6 multiswitch (4 from satellite, 1 for ext. antenna) already. Will that work or will the 6x8 be required?

If he needs more than 4 lines he will need the WB68 in order to get the new HD channels.

With no switch in place yes

If only 4 lines then no multiswitch is needed, if he later exceeds 4 then the multiswitch has to be a WB68 or WB616. Regardless you HAVE to remove the old powered multiswitch, my brother had the same switch & it messed up his new HD channels until he replaced it with the WB68, the installer told him his old switch would work, it obviously didn't.

The WB68 does NOT permit diplexing OTA, and if he needs a multiswitch, the WB68 is the only one he can use.

If he has four or fewer connections, then go straight to the dish. If he has five or more connections then get the WB68.

But in either case, the OTA runs have to be separate.

I think I may already know the answer to this question, but will ask just in case:
Can he use two lines out of the dish to the HR20, then the other two to the existing multiswitch?

Had the same issue here. The installer left the switch behind and said I could keep it as a "spare". I'd been banging my head trying to get good signals on 103..was running between 40-60. I checked the plumb on my mast and found it way off, made other adjustments and couldn't get satisfactory signal levels (60-80). One day, it occurred to me that I should try the "spare" and sure enough, I'm 85+ on all tps...

He already has a powered 5x8 multiswitch. What he can do is connect four lines from dish to WB68. Then run four lines from the WB68 to the inputs of the 5x8 (and OTA if he wants). The outputs of the 5x8 will then have everything EXCEPT the new HD channels. Run two lines from the wB68 to the new HD DVR and he is good to go all the way around.
