Signal Outage at 119 - ONE OF THEM DEAD?

Just got off the phone with tech support.
My reciever (4900) (don't know about my 501, haven't been downstairs, feeling poorly)) is acting very wierd
picture signal is fine but program guide and time/date is absolutely flookey

date keeps changing, can't get a full guide only the channel prview if you hit the right arroow while watching.

Tech support acknowledges that there is a SERIOUS HUGE (his words) problem. It just started a little while ago and they don't know what it is yet (so he says). He says the big tech guys are already on it.

can we scoop em? anyone know what is going on?

I have had a customer call in and say that there is a signal outage on 119 on Dish Network and she has a 301. I have looked at a 301 and noticed that there is in fact a signal outage on just 119 satellite but not on the 721 receiver. The customer has said that they are busy at the 1-800-333-DISH(3474) number. Anybody else experiencing any problems?

Neither of my model 3000 receivers is receiving anything from 119.

Started about 7:30 PM Central time.

119 bird is offline for me as well. 110 gets signal though. I have an ancient model 3000 receiver.

Hopefully nothing happened to the 119 bird. I had a second customer call in just a moment ago. One wants me to call back with why its doing this, and no explaination, and the person is missing wrestling.

Same for me, but I was able to get patches of signal for some of the local channels after the outage. But when I try to do the system set up for 119, there's a very strong signal there, but it says it's the wrong satellite. Maybe it's a software problem??

Does anybody know if there was new software spooled tonight? This could be the case causing some receivers to go out while others did not. I think the 721 is still receiving off of 119, can anybody else verify on the 721, 501, 508 if they are getting a signal?

It is not a result of new software.... They DO NOT KNOW what hte problem is yet... but they are worried, atleast the guy on the phone sounded worried.

On my 6-year-old model 4000 all I get is a locked-channel screen showing "Channel 65456". Been like that since 5:45 PT.

Same problem you have. 110 is "locked in", but 119 isn't.

My 501's landed og 65535 (EPG) too.

We're getting "Wrong Sat" messages from 119, and really low signal on several 110 transponders, the 110 spots seem fine, however.

Guess it's a biggie

Transponder 02, 03, 04, 06, 08, 10, 13, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 31 are out on 110

I think some 2-10 may be spotbeams though.

Oh wow, and here I was, going to ask for help diagnosing a problem lol....My 5000 doesnt even go anywhere other than "aux input" channel...Lots of fun.

301 said that there was a problem with 119, but now it's saying I have no 61.5 :-(

501 downstairs seems to be working so far...

Our's is out too on the 501, happened about 20 minutes ago, my 301 in the bedroom works fine though. We can't get through to DISH, busy signal.

Transponder 01 and 03 comes in locked as spotbeams on 119 here.

I get normal signal on all the transponders at 119
No notice on channel 101 about outage(Well, who's gonna be able to read it!!)

Just got off the phone with DISH, they said one of their SATS is dead, quit working and they can't even communicate with it. They are not sure what the problem is.

Our 301 just went out, which was working, both recievers are out.

They could put it on another channel about the outage or something on a regular channel.

Maybe it is a problem with the multi switches?

They said dead as in quit working, yes. The guy said they can't communicate with the Sat. That's all I know.

3500/5000 unit dead. 501 ok but told by dish not to turnit off.

119 ok on my 501 unit. Texas rep said this outage is affecting 501/301 units. I don't think they know whats really going on.

My 501 is seeing 119 but tht 3500 and 5000 just suddenly stopped working except for 110. This looks some kind of soft ware issue otherwise i would'nt be getting 119.

well I have two dp301's here on a dish pro twin well onw is working one isnt...it looks like the receivers arent locking on 119 but there is a signal coming from 119! I don't really know whats up all I know is I can't watch nothing at all... but I'm getting a good signal though but its showing wrong sat

Lots of "Info Not Available" while using the browse banner on the 501. However, the reciever still works.

OK, I was watching TV (301) and noticed that the picture was weird then I got on this board and noticed the info on the outage so I went into my system setup and noticed I had a signal on 119 but it said wrong sat, when I exited out I had a message on my screen that says Aquiring Satellite signal. So I go to my 508 and it does the same thing, my suggestion is if you have a Pic do not go to the system setup. So I now have nothing on either TV!!

This would be a great time for Dish to use their website for something useful like give us some info about the outage!!!

Jacob, I'm not sure if it's really dead, but that is what we were told. At the initial outage, my 501 didn't work and my 301 did, now both of them aren't working. All I know is what customer support told us, that they can't communicate with the Sat, it's not working. Just trying to help.

This is not good! I turned on the 301 in the family room to see what was up, and I had TV fine not a problem.

So I then go to the setup and then the install srceen to see the signal strength and I had 125 on the 119 but no green!

Then when I exited, nothing but searching for sat..

What a bummer!

If it works, don't touch it!

Allamand, I did the same on my 301 when it was working, exited and then it was acquiring signal, and is down as well, no tv here.

All channels are working fine on my 3900 from both 119 and 110. The only thing wierd that I noticed is on the dish pointing screen the 119 TPs say "Wrong Sat" except the 2 spotbeams (5 and 7) and it is the complete opposite for 110 (wrong sat for spotbeams 8 and 10, all others OK)

Well, I re-hooked up my 5000 5 mins ago -- left it sitting for a few mins, then looked in the guide -- channels were there! Tried to go to 101...Problems. :-( Got to 103 though. It made me run a switch check. Did it, and evertyhing seems fine now.

My 501 appears to be working, but all my 6000 does is aquire. And I had issues locking 119 on the install screen on the 6000. Cannot get thru to Dish.. Cannot figure out why my 501 appears to be fully functional???

ok - mine is back to normal here..
i guess Dishnet had/ is having some problems..

at the end i made sure to make a Switch Check also..

Now - it is all OK..9:30 pm Central or so..

It is affecting older models too such as 3700/3900 that a customer has that called in.

I have a 4000 that was affected by the outage around 7:30pm CST but my 501 kept on working fine.
Tried to fix using DISH standard procedures :)

Power off/on. no workie
Removed/Inserted smart card. no workie.
Left it off for 30 min. no workie.
At around 9:25pm CST Reran a check switch. w00t!!!
IT WORKIE!!!!!

OK ran switch test on my 301 for the second time and it is back up and working, the first time it did not work but I guess the second time is the charm!

I have model 6k recievers and they seem to be able to see the channels fine, but the guide is not updating properly. For me to get the guide to update I have to turn off the unit for 30 seconds then all is corrected.

I wonder if they accidently got an ECM out of control for a bit.

You do not have to do the check switch, it comes on by itself. If you did a check switch while it is out you messed it up and will have to redo it.

Hmm seems like the 721's were not effected by this glitch. I was watching Smackdown and recording something off of CourtTV and both were fine.

I would not known there was a glitch if I didn't read it here. :)

This is wierd! on the 501 my sigmals are low on 119 and 110 but are locking. On 61.5 I get a reading and a red bar, it dosent say locked or wrong sat or nothing. I can watch the channels of 61.5 though.

Yes they do, but that was not needed since the satellite did not go down. If it had gone down then the 721 would have been affected.

"We apologize for the programming interruption you may have experienced. All services have been restored to normal. If you are continuing to experience a loss of picture, please unplug your Dish Network receiver, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. This should restore your programming to normal."

How bizarre -- an instance when Dish's site is responsive and helpful!

My 4900 is back to normal this am as well. Interesting that some of us lost picture as well as the guide and others did not.
I wonder if THAT had to do with the version of software installed on our receiver or our reciever model.
My wife said our 501 was not affected and our 4900 was only affect for the program guide. I never lost picture.

Just so you know, last night at this time, my 61.5 west went out but after completing a check switch, 119 showed odd/even but 61.5 showed X X. I kept checking back and 61.5 west was out for atleast 40 minutes. This was a model 4000.

Whatever happened, my three 5000's shutdown independently of one another. Tried to re-set the SW64 with different results each time I tried. Finally by 11pm all was well.

So approx - it was broken from 15 mins i guess up to an hour i suppose..

I had the same problem, did a check-switch, got a switch error. Unplugged my 6000, no go, unplugged my Dishplayer at the same time, and powered both back up, and everything was fine.... and had remained working.

119 just went out right in the middle of M*A*S*H on FX - Boston locals are on, VH1 Classic is on (I think that's on 110) but a lot of 119 channels are gonzo.

All fine now. The signal just went out. After it came back it went down some then back up to the normal signal strength.
