It's not month 12 for my HR20-700.

I've swapped the box once, with another brand new unit.

Over the last couple of months the picture quality has dropped and audio drop-outs are now more frequent. Of course DirecTV wants to tell me that this box is failing and I just need a reconditioned one to brighten my day.

Yet, I see post after post in these forums reporting the same or very similar issues. I now have the decision to go ahead and accept another reconditioned HR20-700. Still no way to transfer the 35+ hours of recorded content currently sitting on the DVR. Still no way to transfer my "to-do" list.

DirecTV came out this summer, upgraded the dish and replaced every single cable (my request) to ensure there was nothing wrong with the infrastructure. I get 95% or higher signal strength. I've used different HDMI cables. I've swapped out my Stereo Receiver with a new one.

Any suggestions? Besides, leave DTV?

Have you tried new B Band Converters?

I too experience audio drops and pixelation which I believe is too frequent. Since my meg 2 channels seem to be stable, my current theory is that the meg 4 channels are still being tweaked and local affiliates don't completely have their act together either. I ordered new BBCs to see if that helps, but like you I can't pinpoint any other possible infrastructure issues. Are your issues constant or just more frequent than an occassional audio drop or pixelation?

Mine is the exact opposite. My mpeg4s are fairly stable, but my mpeg2s pixelate. Didn't really notice it too much until the new mpeg4s came online though
