508 timers not working

My timers are not working today, though if I go to the timer menu, it shows them active.  Does this have anything to do with the pending version upload, or is this a known problem.

I assume the fix is unplug and wait a bit.  I'll give that a try after CSI records.

Reboot. Hold down the Power button for about 5 seconds. The 50x series needs a periodic reboot to keep it stable (just like Windoze).

Every now and then I will set a timer and it won't show up in the Guide but it works OK.

Try erasing some upcoming timers and then resetting them. I have done this a few times in the last 18 months. I also advocate the front panel reset once a day. It can't hurt and i believe it helps. As always I believe you should report this to dish and give the techs a chance to help. It doesn't cost anything and at least puts the problem in your file.

Thanks everyone.  I unplugged for 5 minutes and it then worked OK.  I will start the weekly reboot procedure now, and only go daily if necessary.

I've had the unit since Dec 2 and this is the first glitch, although i know that others have reported them.  Been a DISH customer since 11/97 without much hassle until recently.  Lately it has been billing hassles, weirdness with distant locals and the like.
