Just curious... how can they possibly claim "exclusive coverage"?

I believe it is exclusive, as in they are the only ones showing it in HD.

Unless you have a DVB card and a c-band dish. :D

Altho NASA's signal is digital, it is not H/D. H/D net has signed an agreement
with NASA, to provide exclusive H/D coverage, in exchange for loaning their
H/D equiptment for NASA's use(photo coverage of shuttle tank etc. during launch)

The term "Exclusive" is as meaningless as "1". It is being broadcast "Exclusively" at 3:00 AM on Wednesday December 5th, 2010. It is just a meaningless advertising waste of words. It's a TV advertising term. :nono2:

Right you are, my point, exactly. HDNet will NOT be the only network that will cover the launch in HD, anyway. CNN, for example, will be covering the launch, also, and although perhaps not available in HD in as many homes as HDNet, WILL have their HD feed nevertheless, as will the major networks, for what their 2 minutes, if that, is worth...

It's JUST marketing hype to claim exclusivity.

Launch has been postponed due to faulty ECO (engine cut-off) sensors. Stay
tuned for updates for revised launch dates/times.

Dec. 6, 10:30 a.m. EST: During tanking, two of four LH2 Engine Cutoff (ECO) sensors failed to respond appropriately, which is a Launch Commit Violation. The requirement to proceed calls for 3 of 4. The launch was scrubbed at 9:56 a.m. EST on the recommendation of Launch Director Doug Lyons.

Mission Management Team Chairman LeRoy Cain concurred following a short briefing on the issue. The ice inspection team will proceed with an abbreviated vehicle inspection prior to offloading the LO2 and LH2 and recycle for a launch attempt tomorrow, at 4:09 p.m.

A press briefing is tentative scheduled for 4 p.m. An update is forthcoming on NASA TV.

If the HDnet coverage is essentially NASA TV in HD, then there is no comparision to what CNN or anyone else will offer. You must know this. Correct?

No, I don't believe that's a logical conclusion...

but, whatever, dude... if you want to put words in their mouth, go ahead. They didn't claim exclusive NASA-TV coverage in HD. They just claimed exclusive coverage of the launch... how ludicrous! Their commentary leaves a LOT to be desired, anyway. I usually watch them, but listen to another channel.

Just hope that it gets off safely, and watch it on the channel of your choice.

You know it's not exclusive... right???

Well I thought the season was over, but it appears not yet....there is a small
chance that they may have to roll the entire stack, back into the VAB for
protection............

AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAS BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED
TODAY ABOUT 550 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF PUERTO RICO...IN
ASSOCIATION WITH A SHARP SURFACE TROUGH AND A LARGE UPPER-LEVEL
LOW. THE SYSTEM IS ALREADY PRODUCING GALE FORCE WINDS...MAINLY TO
THE NORTH AND NORTHEAST OF THE MAIN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS. THE
SURFACE TROUGH HAS BEEN MOVING WESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH...AND
THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT DAY OR
TWO. WATER TEMPERATURES ARE STILL WARM ENOUGH IN THIS AREA TO
SUPPORT TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION...AND UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NOT
ESPECIALLY PROHIBITIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL STORM DURING THE NEXT
24 HOURS...AND INTERESTS IN THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS...THE
VIRGIN ISLANDS...PUERTO RICO...HISPANIOLA...AND THE EASTERN BAHAMAS
SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.

SHUTTLE TARGET LAUNCH DATE MOVED TO JAN. 10
-------------------------------------------
Launch of shuttle Atlantis on a critical space station assembly mission,
delayed twice because of problems with troublesome low-level fuel sensors,
will slip an additional week, from Jan. 2 to no earlier than Jan. 10, to
give support personnel time off over the Christmas and New Year holidays,
NASA managers said today.

NASA ANNOUNCES SPACE SHUTTLE LAUNCH TARGETS

HOUSTON - NASA Friday announced Feb. 7 as the target launch date for shuttle Atlantis' STS-122 mission to the International Space Station and mid-March for the launch of Endeavour on STS-123. Liftoff of Atlantis from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., will be at 2:47 p.m. EST.

A decision by the Russian Federal Space Agency to move up its Progress launch from Feb. 7 to Feb. 5 enables both STS-122 and STS-123 to launch before the next Russian Soyuz mission in early April. This allows astronauts assigned to the space station's Expedition 16 crew to complete the tasks they have trained for, including support of the launch and docking of Jules Verne, the first European Space Agency Automated Transfer Vehicle. Targeting Feb. 7 also allows time to complete modifications to the engine cutoff sensor system that postponed two shuttle launch attempts in December.

Atlantis' main objective during its STS-122 mission to the station is to install and activate the European Space Agency's Columbus laboratory, which will provide scientists around the world the ability to conduct a variety of experiments in life, physical, and materials science, Earth observation and solar physics.

Shuttle Endeavour's STS-123 mission will deliver Kibo, the first section of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's laboratory module, and Dextre, Canada's new robotics system to the space station.

NASA managers will meet in the coming weeks to address the schedule of remaining shuttle flights beyond STS-123.
