What I never figured out was why the store didn't just consider Winnie's alledged theft a sale and bill it to her credit account. There's a thin line between grand theft and a grand day of shopping.

"Uh, Ms. Ryder, would you mind if we scan your 'purchases' so we can accurately bill your, uh, account?"

Sure - by using one of their psychic employees who would know how much to charge to the card, since she didn't exactly stop for a bar-code scan of each item.....
