It's been posted with polls before on this...

I KNOW that this button feature is realllllyyyyy slow. I DO occassionally check the weather using this feature. I'd like to see DirecTV add a new feature on the HR models where you push one button and it will bring up similar features such as local weather, lottery, Horoscopes, etc., but using the ethernet connection. I'd like to see better weather features (while still using the ethernet connection) where I can check local weather, forecast, radar maps, severe weather alert, additional weather related information. Using the ethernet cable should make this work faster. I believe checking on your weather is important. I don't want to have to go to my computer to check on weather information.

How do I send this suggestion to DirecTV? Maybe they'll even consider it for future upgrades on the HR receivers.

I agree with the OP. This would make the weather info actually useful instead of it being such a painfully slow and cumbersome way to get only limited weather info.

I can almost boot my XP laptop and check the weather online faster than the DirecTV implementation. :D

PS--They could also lose the lottery, horoscope, and "in your face" ads... :sure:

For those on the R-series, they should cache the information to the HD. That way it would be almost instantaneous.

That would be a great use for that 60gb for showcases that never gets used...:biggthump

This assumes the slowness is because of the data in the satellite stream. It may not be any faster if they use the internet connection.

I wish we could disable that button.
