The bug is that the tv/video switch on the receiver to switch from watching the satellite to watching the antennae (or cable) sometimes stops working. Turning the receiver on/off sometimes seems to fix it, sometimes it takes a reboot. Really only affects people that have basic cable for locals, or use an antennae for off-air signals. I believe it only affects 501/508 receivers.

That explains why have never seen the bug. I do not use the TV/VIDEO feature of my PVR. I bring my VCR into my TV on one set of RCA jacks, my PVR comes in on another set or feeds the S-VIDEO to my AMP. My DVD player also feeds the S-VIDEO into my AMP. Then my AMP acts a an S-VIDEO switch for the S-VIDEO to my TV.
One interesting thing about the TV/VIDEO button- When the remote is in TV mode (as oppose to SAT mode)- on the 508 that button allows me to switch input on my HD Toshiba monitor, but the 721 remote does nothing. I haven't tried a different TV code to see if it effects the output, so it may or may not be a related error.
Hey c42, what model tv do u have and how good is the pic? I have a 32inch superflat Panasonic that I think has a good pic.
Hi rjl,
It's a Toshiba 34HF81 (pure flat 16:9 tube). 34" of great picture. The ony downside, it weights 214 lbs and everyone wants to come over and play the xbox that's hooked up to it. The 480p/1080i of HDTV is a great looking picture- it makes a progressive scan DVD worth the extra money.
Hey c, is that the one with a plastic screen? Is it a rear projection?
rjl, Neither... it's the heavy flat glass tube TV. Large and heavy. The newest generation are plastic screens. I didn't like them as well as the traditional tube models.

Mine has not worked since I got V167. Rebooting, powering down, pulling the dumb card, nothing works, the function is totally dead.
Funny thing, the night I called Dish to talk to them about it, we got disconnected and I never called back.
