I think it's ridiculous that they basically stopped airing the Dolphins in HD on D*. I don't care how bad they are I still want to be able to see my hometown team in HD. Is there anything we can do to change this?
I mean what course of action would you pursue if your hometown team has been screwed. as far as HD goes, for about half of their schedule.

I know it sucks but there's really not a lot you can do. At least for this season, there just aren't enough HD Broadcast equipment packages out there committed by the networks to the games, so unfortunately at least for now, the least important game to the NFL and the network is gonna be the one to go.

This has nothing to do with D*. CBS is not covering the game in HD, period. They only have so many feeds possible and an 0-12 team is going to get the boot over games with playoff implications. Next year, ALL NFL games will be in HD.

Yea everyone always says it is not D* fault. Yet every Dolphin game has been in HD this year whether D* aired it or not. So why would this be the FIRST week CBS decides not to shoot the game in HD?
Last week you could see the game on CBS NY if you get channel 80 through DNS yet D* did not carry it in HD on ST.

Not every Dolphins game has been in HD, sorry. I can get all the games broadcast OTA, no D* involved at all. Sadly HD won't help them much this year and I am a Fins fan.

Just double checked, our affiliate here is not using HD equipment this weekend either, go figure.

Other then wait till next season...
Not much you can do about it.
The technical limitation in the bandwith exsists...
Can't change it until either some of the MPEG-2 switch to MPEG-4..
Or another 6-8 channels (or one HD one), is shutdown for the time period.
I think you will get to see one more Dolphins game in HD this year... when they play New England.

Blame CBS this week, here's their HD games:
NFL San Diego Chargers vs Tennessee Titans - 1:00 PM CBS (1080i)
NFL Oakland Raiders vs Green Bay Packers - 1:00 PM CBS (1080i)
NFL Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets - 4:15 PM CBS (1080i)
NFL Kansas City vs Denver Broncos - 4:15 PM CBS (1080i)
NFL Pittsburgh Steelers vs New England Patriots - 4:15 PM CBS (1080i)

What' worse is that I spent the money on the ST, and SF to watch NE, and only needed it for one NE game this year so far...DOH!!!

The game is only being shown in part of Florida and Buffalo market. CBS is not providing this game in HD. The small viewing area for this game makes it the perfect candidate for the non HD CBS game.

Where is it that shows that all games next year will be televised in HD? I expect more games to be HD than this year, but not all games. I heard that it will be in 2 years. I would guess that the Dolphins game vs the Pats would be in HD.

The NFL Contract with each and every network requires that all games by in HD for the 2009 season. Hopefully, the 2008 season will be more HD than this year.

Just because it's shot and broadcast in some markets in HD does not make it D*'s fault that it's not on NFLST. It can also mean that there are only so many HD uplinks provided by the network.

Wow - we really have no reason to complain here - at least to D*. This week is CBS's fault, and who can blame them? Going to Miami, where nobody goes to the games, and to Buffalo, the 2nd smallest NFL DMA.
It's all about money.

Strangely enough, during this bad season, the turn out at games is quite good. Granted, with the shrinking base of American fans, Miami/Dade County is a tough sports market. Makes it harder when the Englsh speaking populace is becoming the minority.

It irks me as well that three of Miami's HD games have been snubbed by DirecTV this year. I bought Superfan solely for the purpose of watching Miami in HD. CBS by and large did their part this year (this week is the exception, but you can't blame them; 0-12 is 0-12). DirecTV is to blame for a change (compared to years past) and I let them know. I've complained a couple times this year about this. Of course, I get the standard response of "we can only carry so many games," but at least I made myself heard.

Check out hdsportsguide.com
they have all the listings of every major sport being shown in HD and on what channel. Dolphins/Bills is not being broadcast in HD by CBS, therefore it is impossible for DirectTV to show the game in HD via NFLST. If its not in HD to begin with, DirectTV cant magically show the game in HD. Last year every sunday there were about 3 games that were not shown in HD on CBS. This year that number has gone down to about 1 or 2 games per sunday. Next year, that number will probably be reduced down to 0 or 1 game not shown in HD. An 0-12 team will probably get the non-HD game almost every week due to ratings and of course $$$. hope this helps. later.

Actually, Alansaysyo is correct. 3 Dolphins games have been broadcast by CBS in HD that DirecTv decided to not carry in HD. This week's game is not being broadcast in HD by CBS. I complained recently to DirecTv about the three games via email and they sent me an email thanking me for my "call". Nothing else. FYI, these three games were listed on hdsportsguide.com as being in HD and fans in the Miami area received the broadcasts in HD via cable or OTA. I hope the future will be better for the Dolphins on the field as well as in HD.

Yes, thank you. Miami's games against Philly, Houston, and the Jets (2nd game) were available in HD via CBS and NOT carried by DirecTV. For those three games, it was completely DirecTV's fault that we did not see them. This week is CBS's fault, but it is certainly forgivable considering Miami's record and the viewing area.
We should really be taking DirecTV to task for not carrying those three games. It's forseeable that they will drop a couple more, meaning at least a fourth of the season would have been snubbed by DirecTV. For my $100, I'm not happy about that at all.

Please..... that is not the argument. Sure not EVERY game will be in HD with superfan. However, Dolphin fans have had a fourth of their games in SD (3 of which were in HD but D* decided not to carry) and I gaurantee you that is more than any other team. We have a legitimate gripe. It should not matter what the record of said team is. The games that D* decides not to carry week to week (that are in HD) should be scattered better. I am sure there are other games that are just as weak as any Dolphins game. At least they are playing for a peice of History. :)

No one said they did. I do, however, take issue with them blaming CBS for all these years, and when CBS finally steps up and gives them almost all games in HD, they can't handle it. For all of the blame they've deflected over the years, they deserve their fair share this season.
Where does Directv promise or advertise EVERY game in HD with Superfan??? Nowhere.
You are absolutely correct, DIRECTV made no such promises for the 2007 season. But I think you WILL see that "every possible game in HD" promise from DIRECTV for the 2008 season. Remember, next year Superfan will be all MPEG4 on the new sats and DIRECTV will be out from under their bandwidth limitations with MPEG2.
But DIRECTV will still have two caveats:
DIRECTV won't be able to have the game on Superfan (HD) if FOX/CBS doesn't produce it in HD
DIRECTV won't be able to have the game on Superfan (HD) if FOX/CBS has 'infrastructure' limitationsNotice that neither FOX or CBS has said they will be 100% HD for the NFL next year. Don't get your hopes up. The NFL contract does not require 100% HD from FOX and CBS until the 2009 season.
I think it's ridiculous that they basically stopped airing the Dolphins in HD on D*.
considering how they are playing, if there is one game that can't be HD, dolphins would seem to be the logical pick. right after that would be the raiders . . . not many folks watching those games (comparitively speaking).

Actually I don't even believe it will be shown here. As of yesterday there were still a few thousand tickets still left to be sold. Pretty sad, it's it is indeed not sold out that will be two years in a row. 10-12 years ago you couldn't get tickets to a Dolphins/Bills game here in Buffalo, now it seems no one wants them.

You were correct when you posted the above. However, the NFL extended the blackout deadline and a local business has now bought the remaining tickets out and it's now a sellout.

Yep I just read that about 5 minutes ago. Fry Electric bought the remaining tickets. Where I work, we're moving into a bigger plant and Fry is doing all the electrical work. One of the managers was in today talking with my boss, had this come out sooner I would have hit him up for tickets :D

I understand how you feel.
Last year my Steelers started out and every game was in HD, until midway through the season.
So the first half of the season they were 2-6 and all of there games were in HD, second half of the season 6-2 and all games in SD. Yes I was pissed but unhappily accepted the fact that CBS did not consider them a team most people wanted to see.

This is the week for the Fins to stop smelling fishy. You got to win a few games if you want picked up in HD while every game is still not carried in HD. You should be fine next year -- I would hope.
Could you imagine the outcry if Farve was not in HD and the Fins were?
Craziest thing so far this season is my beloved Steelers were not in HD on the local channel (that is in HD), but they were in HD on the NFLST. What the....?

It wasn't even available in HD on Sunday Ticket. Usually, even tho an SD game is blacked out in the market, the HD version on ST is available. The Dolphin's game wasn't even offered nationally in HD, much less locally.
Its a CBS (or Fox depending on whos carrying the game) decision as to whether or not to go HD.
Check out the Week 15 Schedule in this forum:

Here's the issue: there are nine games on the early slate and Sunday Ticket SuperFan can only show eight in any one time slot. So while the Ravens-Dolphins game will be produced in HD by CBS, this is the game likely to be omitted from the SuperFan lineup.
Those markets with local OTA in HD will get the game in HD. With DC being a secondary market to the Ravens, WUSA Channel 9 in Washington must carry this game locally.
cheers
Imagine that, going for another perfect season (0-16) and we can't even see them do it in HD.
If it’s any conciliation to Dolphin fans, this week will be the second week in a row that that the division leading Seattle Seahawks will not be in HD. Last week thanks to CBS, this week we tip our hats to our friends at FOX.
I guess we’ve learned market share drives the decision not just simply a poor record.
