While everyone is complaining about the "R" and/or "R)))" icon appearing in the program guide or the "episodes" listing in the prioritizer even if the shows aren't in the TO DO list, here are a few IMPROVEMENTS to the lastest software, some of which I'm happy to say were due to my bitc...er complaining. And, of course, more bugs.

If you are watching LIVE TV and you press FF followed by the "30 second slip" key, the progress bar no longer gets stuck on screen.

If you select the SHOWCASES by choosing that category from the program guide (sometimes you need to press GUIDE twice to get the category listing), the disk space available graphic no longer appears. This could have confused users into thinking that the SHOWCASES were taking away from their 100 hours of space (they don't).

You are no longer fooled into thinking that pressing SELECT with a folder highlighted in the PLAYLIST will play each show in sequence like a message used to tell you at the top of the screen.

And now for some little annoyances you may not have noticed (but I did) ;)

When you are viewing the SHOWCASE tab in the playlist, the "colored button" guide at the bottom of the screen says "tab right" next to the green key. It should say "tab left".

While the new "skip to tick" feature is nice, it's not ready for prime time. If you are in the live buffer, it acts unpredictably. Sometimes, it will tab to the next "tick" but only once. Next time, it zooms to the BEGINNING of the live buffer, irregardless if you press FF or FR. It also acts unpredictably on a recorded show if that show is still part of the LIVE BUFFER (progress bar shows REAL TIME ticks instead of minutes since beginning of show)

Occasionally after watching a recorded show and then returning to live TV, the "trickplay" controls are unresponsive instead producing the "you screwed up" drum sound. After a few seconds, trickplay resumes. (Trickplay= the magical things you can do like FF, pause, FR, 30 sec slip, etc.)

When you press the "30 second slip" key, above the number of times you have pressed the key on the progress bar it says "30 > 1". This is confusing and should either be removed or made understandable to "ordinary" users. :)

When you are in the PLAYLIST and you press the MENU key, one of the choices is PLAYLIST. Duhh. Get rid of it!!

(as mentioned in other threads in painful detail) When a recorded show is still part of the "Live Buffer" it is not treated as recorded. You still get "real times" in the progress bar, and if for some reason you need to reboot your unit (or the power fails) your "recorded" show is lost-even if it ended an hour ago! FIX THIS! When a show that is scheduled to record is finished recording TRANSFER it to full "recorded" status, even if the same channel is still being watched.

Normally after watching a recorded show, the unit returns to the PLAYLIST with live TV in the PIG. But sometimes, it doesn't. This should be consistent irregardless as to the disposition of the recorded show (either the user presses STOP, waits until the end and chooses KEEP or DELETE, etc.)

While the prioritizer has been fixed so you can edit settings even if a show is not listed in the guide for the next 14 days, such is not the case if you recently restarted your receiver and a show in the prioritizer is listed as "upcoming" in the guide. The same thing happens if the show IS listed in the prioritizer's "episode" listing for the next 14 days, but the guide hasn't gotten that far in populating itself.

If you are in the PLAYLIST and you press MENU one of the choices is "open/close all" referring to the shows in folders. Unfortunately, it really DOESN'T open/close ALL of them, especially manual record folders.

I know, I know, I have too much time on my hands....but that's the joy of being retired!!!! :D :D
