If DirecTV wasn't an option, would you go with Dish or Cable?
The provider with NFL-ST.

I voted all is not what it seems. I honestly don't know if I would go with anyone right away anyway. Would be a great excuse for more time for the family to focus on something other than TV.
But, eventually we would want service again. But we hate cable..we hate Dish ...I dunno.

Probably Verizon. That's cable.

My favorite answer! I chose this one too.

Cable service at my place is provided (allegedly) by a old Adelphia office now run by TW. I would have to rank Dish and OTA so far ahead of cable that if they weren't available I would watch what I could online, or just wait for the DVD on netflix.

Oh I am soooo going to get reamed for this one. I'd go for FTA. Then again if there was no DirecTV I'd probably work for dish and have an account from them.

It's not listed but FiOS

Our cable supplier is Comcast -- no thanks, been there, done that, twice.
No access to FIOS, so it's a no-brainer: DishNetwork AND OTA.

Why, with ABC of course.
Anybody But Comcast.
I had to vote cable because E* doesn't provide our local networks in HD. If they did, cable wouldn't be an option.

Didn't vote because Verizon's FIOS is not listed. Their TV service is not yet available in Washington State, but I've heard lots of good things about them.

Cable isn't an option. The cable provider for my area is Charter and it is awful!

When I subscribed to D* (USSB), Dish didn't exsist(I don't think), I had cable (now Comcast)which I never would go back to. I suppose I would, with no other choice, be a Dish sub currently.

In Louisiana Charter is awful as well .. so I would hit Dishnetwork again.
If I was back in NYC I would go back to cablevision.
Cablevision is about 50 x better than charter.
took me 3 days to get rid of Charter after coming over from NYC.

When I was having problems getting converted from the 2 dish, 3 LNB setup that I had to the Slimline, I was planning on converting to Fios.

Initially I'd use OTA and FTA while I investigated the options and cost to get HD via C-Band. Fios isn't available here or it would be my first choice. I'd never submit to a 2 yr contract with Dish, and Comcast is not even a consideration.

I would go back to Dish.
Hate to say it but cable. E* doesn't do HD locals for use and the one OTA tuner in the E* HD STB's doesn't cut it.

OTA and bump up the netfix...

I dunno. If I had to go back to the crappy cable reception I had before DIRECTV, I guess I'd have to take up reading books by the fireplace.

I voted for Dish Network, but since their dish can't be mounted on my house with a good LOS (long story) I think I would get OTA or basic cable, and set my Netflix limit to the max. :)

Dish AND OTA (but I couldn't pick both)

As I live in the boonies cable and FiOS are not options for me so I would use OTA for locals and probably go C band for the others.

I selected CABLE because that is closest to what I would actually chose which is -

I would go back to my cable provider as I use cable for my internet and phone service now.
DirecTv was not even a consideration for me until my girlfriend moved her system here just over three years ago and she had just signed a years contract for standard service. She also bought the HD televisions and upgraded to HD service with no input from me.
But if we had to ditch DirecTV.....back to cable for us since the house is wired for it in all main rooms.

Dish would be my next choice. Earlier this year, I was considering switching, but DirecTV gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. They did what it took to keep me a customer. I'm glad I did, as I am sooooo enjoying all the new HD programming. The antiquated cable system in my area wasn't even an option.

I voted all is not what it seems, I would have stayed with C-Band... For a single guy it is probably the best "bang for the Buck" in programming.....

I checked cable but not really sure. Dish might be an option or maybe just go OTA. Truth of the matter is that I sometimes wonder why we even have all the progamming we do, especially the Showtime/Starz/HBO package, as we don't watch it that much. When we lived up north the wife and I would kind of hibernate all winter, neither of us likes cold, ice or snow. Back then, especially after the football season was over, we'd build a fire in the fireplace and just watch movies all day long. Now we're down in San Antonio we don't get so locked up during the "winter" (yesterday it was 81 degrees and we worked in the yard in shorts and t-shirts) so TV time is much reduced. There's more to life than TV.
Whoever had Sunday Ticket. Question for you. You have cable and "love" it. Why are you hanging out on the D* forum?

I would not be able to go back to our local cableco, so Dish Network.
What about choice #5?.There is no choice but DirecTV!.:D
Dishnotwrok?.Not a chance.
Cable?.The same thing.
OTA?.Can't get it.
It would be back to radio for me.;)
I would not be able to go back to our local cableco, so Dish Network.
WHat did you do to them, that they won't let you back, Stuart???
For me... OTA my TIVO HD Box and basic cable (already my secondary setup anyway).
Verizon FIOS wasn't an option for the poll - I'd choose that.
I would have to pick E*. I watch lots of sports (NY Yankees, NY Rangers) and the local Comcrap company offers very little. At least with E*, I could get more HD sports than what is locally available.

I chose Dish, because they are at least doing a better job of adding HD than the local cable company here (Mediacomm). I can get most of my locals in High Def via cable(except LIN FOX channel), but I had too many issues with Mediacomm's billing and crappy internet service.

Hopefully that would be Fios!

This is a good point, I forgot about that....I guess I would have to go with cab....can't say it...
I would just grab ATT uverse and be done with it.

Funny thing is, when I switched to Directv 5 years ago, the retards at Adelphia turned off my neighbors cable instead of mine. When they came out to fix his, the tech said he wasn't sure which one to disconnect so he was going to leave them both on. I'll bet I've still got a signal on the cable no more than 6 feet from where I sit. (possibly the reason for the nausea). They could tell me to hook up for free and I still woudn't do it. Bastages.
