I went on-line to add the HD Extra Pack last night. As I was going through the options, I got to the sports subscription page, where I was offered to add stuff that I didn't already have. I didn't and then clicked on continue. I then got an error message that said basically that I couldn't unsubscribe from a sports subscription on-line, that I would have to call DirecTV to unsubscribe. I thought that was odd, since I didn't delete or add anything at all. To get past the error, I clicked on a tab at the top of the screen and continued. So I finally got to the screen to add the HD Extra Pack and then clicked that I was all done. The change was highlighted in yellow, so then I clicked submit. When I got my programming summary, I noticed that Superfan was no longer listed; however, "Sunday Ticket HD included with NFL Superfan" was listed. The whole thing just seemed bizarre to me. All Superfan programming was finished for the day, so I had to wait until this morning when the Short Cuts began to see if everything was all right.

I turned on the TV this morning to the Short Cuts channels (728-729). Sure enough, I got the "Channel Not Purchased (721)" message. I was just livid. The Short Cuts I recorded overnight were no good. (Fortunately, they're repeated a dozen times between now and Wednesday morning.) It took a CSR call to get reauthorized for Superfan, and the channels magically appeared. The point is, how could this have happened??? I didn't do anything wrong. I even got the error message that I couldn't delete sports programming on-line. I deliberately waited until last night to do the addition, fearful that something like this might happen and screw up Sunday Ticket if I did it during the day. The thing I was most concerned about was losing my Premier package with the free DVR service grandfathered in. Now I'll have to wait a month until my next statement to see if I still have that. I'm not *supposed* to lose it, but then again I wasn't *supposed* to lose Superfan either.

The moral of the story: if you make programming changes or additions on-line, better keep your eyes and ears open when you turn on the TV and check your billing statements to make sure you're still receiving everything you're entitled to receive.

I have had all my programming canceled by adding something on-line. I don't use the website (much) but I always call to do changes.

Even calling in you have to be careful. I called to cancel an install.....actually called to make sure I wasn't going to get charged for a failed install.....and the CSR cut off my whole service. Called from work the day after the failed install to make sure it was cleared off the books, didn't want to get charged for a Slimline and HD DVR that didn't happen. Got home and I had nothing....zip, zero. Called DirecTV and the CSR who came on line said I'd called that morning to cancel my DirecTV. Took some convincing to get it all turned back on again.

I just got an E-mail from DirecTV thanking me for my call today. Not a survey or anything, just a thank you for calling. That's never happened before.

Directv has been doing major changes to their website. They have been having problems. The website is integrated in to programming, billing, remote scheduling, vidio on demand and customer service. It is a wonder it works at all.

If it were not for this site I would not have a clue as to the "Extra-Pack". I have yet to be notified that my existing original HD channels will be turned off by the 15th. I like DirecTV, but they do have some strange business practices. I am going to wait and see if they actually turn them off and if they do, I havn't decided yet if I will order the new package or not.
