I have had my VIP 622 for a little over a year. Yesterday when I powered my system up I got nothing on my TV. The VIP622 appears to be working and even recorded a show. (I could tell because the red light went on) I am getting no picture and Dish just says they will send me a new unit. I don't want to lose all the programming I have on the hard drive. Is this a sympton of the HDMI switch going out on the VIP622?
Any suggestions would be helpful. I don't know much about how the whole system is connected, it was done professionally. I am using a Denon AV receiver and a Sony KDS 60 " RP TV.

You mean HDMI connector going out. Yes it is. One thing you can try is to unplug and plug it back in. Might be loose. The other possibility of course could be on the TV end but I am assuming you see something when you bring up the TV internal menu.
I would also check component out or composite and see if you get anything. From those inputs try to get the the HDMI info under diags and see if you can reset HDMI or see if there is any type of error providing a clue.

My 622 has done this twice in the last 2 weeks. All programming is blacked out, but it records programs and the menus will come up and I can play recorded material.
It was hung up about an hour ago, so I let it record and played Enterprise. Now it is fine with no reboot required. Weird.

This happens with my 622 all the time and I suspect it's the HDMI splitter I have. I lose audio or video or both. I get it to work by unplugging the splitter and then plugging it back. It usually brings back the sound and picture. It might be the switch or the 622 and switch combination.

I've had a black screen problem, too. Mine is a little different, however. When I select play for a recorded show from FOX, sometimes the show will begin to play, but all I see is a black screen and I hear nothing. I have to press the 30 second skip ahead and suddenly all is well again. I can even rewind to see the portions that were first blacked out, as long as I don't go all the way back to the very beginning. If I do, then the black screen problem starts all over again.
Anyone else experiencing this? I figured it was probably just some sort of software upgrade glitch. It's not really too inconvenient since it only happens randomly with FOX programming...maybe 10% of the time.

I have/had the same problem with ABC; specifically Boston Legal. Without fail, I would get the black screen and no audio until I FFwd or Skipped forward. I say have/had because with L4.48 the problem didn't appear on the last episode. Possibly, the new release fixed it. We'll see.

I had the exact problem with the previous release and thought it was fixed with 4.48 but not so. It has happened a couple of times since but not nearly as often. May have been programs recorded before 4.48. Not sure about that.

Over the last 3 or 4 days my video will go out, but my audio will still work. It always occurs when I am watching a recorded program. I can stop the recording (it will display the menu screen), but I cannot get the tv channels to come back up. I have to reboot every time this happens to get video back.
I had this problem with my last 622 last year. I ended up sending it back and have not had this problem again until just recently. Note that I am using the component cables and not the HDMI port.
