I had a question regarding if i can qualify as a new dish network member. My roomate ordered dish network and he asked me to put it in my name. I still have my same phone number but I moved. My roomate has the equipment so I would not like to buy it at full price and would like to take advantage of the PVR deals.

How does dish know if you are new or not?

If you give them the same name, address, or phone number, that is how they find out if you are new, or if you plug in a phone line.

This is a gray area in a way. If the other person is going to be buying the equipment then it would be unfair to him to not get a promotion since he is a first time sub, but in another way, you are a previous sub so you are not supposed to get a promotion.

DISH has a screen on their dealer site to check if you are a new or existing customer, have a dealer check your status. Anything that connects you to a previous account could disqualify you as a new customer, I've seen a credit card used previously show up.

Is it the Dealer that cares or DISH? If the receiver is bought as a gift as a new subscriber and then given to a current sub. DISH Can't come back to the person for the diffence can they?

I asked basicly the same question a minute ago, didn't notice this one, sorry....
