Has anyone heard any news lately as to when the 72.5 will stop being used? I'm anxiously awaiting for this change so I can get my locals without having to add another dish (wife doesn't want 2 dishes on the house).

Get HD, put up a 5 LNB dish, it gets 72.5. (at least that works in Kentucky, maybe not in other states with different pointing angles)
Last thing I heard was "sometime in 2008"....well that could of course slip :)

I have the 5 lnb Slimline already but they tell me I need the second dish to get the 72.5.

The 5 LNB dishes do not pickup 72.5. Picking up 72.5 is for some local markets, usually the smaller ones, and most are in the midwest.

My brother-in law in Western Ky upgraded to the slimline dish and his second 72.5 dish looked like it was totally disconnected. I guess I need to go back and check again.

I upgraded to the slimline dish last February and still have the 72.5 dish for my locals here in central Missouri.

Still have mine in Ohio. No way a dish could see 101,119 and 72.5, it would have to be one oblong dish.

His second dish may have been for 119, not for 72.5. Locals are provided on both and with a single round dish for 101 you would also need a second dish for 119.
One speculation I've heard is that some 72.5 locals may be moved over to either 99 or 103 and be mpeg4 spot beams. That would mean everyone in those markets would have to be upgraded to a 5-LNB dish and mpeg4 receiver even if they do not have HD.

They are renting space on 72.5 and contract is up next year....so they need to move, as my understanding is that space is already re-rented by another client

Sweet since I own 3 DVRs (2 Tivos and an R15) amd lease 1 R15, I will get 3 Owned hr20's and a leased one...... That's alot of recording time in SD and no HD fee and OTA digital sub channels..... Wait I bet the HR21's are for this change out.
