You need to find out who the manufacturer of the video adapter is, or more properly, the graphics chipset. If you go into control panel, select System, then Device Manager, scroll down to video adapter and click on properties, you should fing out who published it.
It is in all probability either ATI or NVidia. Once you've found who the chipset manufacturer is, you can go to their website and find a Windows 98 compatible driver.

I would check out this web site (http://support.mpccorp.com/contact/support/csb/) to see if you can track down driver updates. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Your biggest problem is the fact that it is an older computer, with Windows 98. You could try going to the Microsoft Windows update site to see if there is a newer driver available. I don't know whether they'd have anything wfor Windows 98 though.
Another thought, to identify the graphics chip: From the All Programs menu, select Accessories: System Tools: System Information: Components: Display. You should find entries that will identify the adapter.

If you do a search on Google for your exact make and model of notebook you should be able to find the specs and identify exactly which graphics chipset you have. Then it's going to be a hunt for the driver, most manufacturers have removed support for Windows 9x O/Ses, since Microsoft won't support them any longer. Anything the manufacturers wrote that included any Microsoft code has been withdrawn from their websites as their agreements with MS ended with the end of life of Win9x.
