I am about ready to call and sign up for HD service and installation.
( have a new HR20-700, bought online (e-bay,) expecting delivery next
Tuesday of my new 46”Samsung 1080p LCD.)

My dish (Oval 3-LNB) is mounted on the roof and I read somewhere that the Directv 5-LNB Multi-Satellite Dish is too heavy for some roofs.

As I am going to need new shingles within the year or two, maybe
I should go ahead and have the new dish mounted on a pole.
Should I install a pole prior to the installers showing up? If so, what
Size/diameter pole should be used?

I believe the mast for the Slimline 5LNB dish is 2". I'd install it myself if I knew where it should go (line of sight) and set in concrete and also make sure it is perfectly plumb.

Thanks jd, I had planned to set it in concrete, just didn't know what size
pipe to get, just sure whatever I got would likely be the wrong size when
they showed up.
