Does anyone know where you can get a "Dolby Digital Adapter" for a model 4000 or model 5000 dishnetwork receiver?
I have called dishnetwork, and they do not carry them.
All of my retailers don't know what I'm talking about, and want to sell me a New 508 receiver.
Does anyone have these adapters?

A dolby digital adapter is a device that plugs into the high-speed data port on the model 4000 and 5000. The device enables the satellite receiver to output dolby digital audio to a dolby digital receiver instead of using the standard R & L audio jacks.

I have one available as well.. If you need one, let me know
I think you might be better off with the 508 your dealer offered. You should be able to do the PVR upgrade for $199, you will have a brand new warranty, a hard drive so you will have guide information available for at least a week. How long have you had 4000/5000 they do wear out and they aren't getting any newer. As you have already found out DISH is not supporting the adapters.
I still have 1 brand new one available.
Email me if you havn't made other arrangements & you are still interested.
Is there a Dolby Digital adapter available for the 3000 model IRD? It has a high-speed data port on the rear of the unit. What other adapters can you use with the high-speed data port?

Dish is also offering upgrades to a 510 right now for $99. Was too good to pass up. I swapped my 301 for it, so now I have a 501 and will soon have a 510.

You don't need one with the JVC DVHS, That was the first dish receiver with dolby built in.

Thanx,
Since JVC is not Dish500 card Ready, do you know what will happen?
So does anybody know if this adapter will work with the model 3000 IRD?

No, I sold them all, you might want to check www.kusat.com they may still sell them for the expressview 4000 (same as dish). only other option would be ebay.
What is the difference between the high-speed data port on the 4000/5000 and 3000 IRD's. I have the 3000. I would like to know of any adapters that I could use. I would really like to add Dolby Digital if possible. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks.
