E said delete them ALL and start over:(

Now to check my 508, and look at my DP, pulling the card wouldnt reboot the box.

I am sick of this and post this as a warning for thers that your timers might not work.

If I were you, I would request an RMA. You see to be the only one here who is having such major problems with the 721 like loss of recordings

My wife has 70+ hours of recorded shows. Thew timers were working fine untill todays outage. E tech said oh delete them all and start over, known bug.

So THIS problem isnt from a bad box, its that outage. We wll replace it once my new 508 arrives the 15th.

I didn't have any problems at all with my timers after the outage. I'm with DmitriA that you probably have a bad box.

I have 5 dish pvr's, and since the outage, that I noticed for a bout 15 minutes(?), I have had over 20 timers fire with no problem. Alot of those were on my 721 and the rest on 50x's. I really think you need a new box Bob.

I agree with everyone, Bob its time to replace your box. Again I will state that almost everyone is having no problems with their 721.

If your not willing to fix the problem then please dont post the problems with your unit (as the problem is with YOUR unit). If there was a wide 721 problem trust me you would be hearing about it here.

Im not saying the 721 is flawless but its no Dishplayer. :D

Scott, I report what I experience! Now if no one else haS A PROBLEM THATS FINE. but to suggest i not post what I see?

E tech said it was a KNOWN PROBLEM from the outage and reboots and such will NOT help. So apparently I am NOT THE ONLY ONE.

Yeah we wouldnt want E to think this site was negative or something.

Like I said once my new 508 arrives I will record on it and get the 721 replaced. Too bad theres not a easy way to move stuff from a broken 721 to its replacemnt. If there were I would of ALREADY done it

Of course the Refurb I will get will more than likely be buggy. Out of the last 4 refurbs over a period of YEARS 2 were DOA.

The devil I knoiw mnight be better than the devil they will send me.

Besides over the last few weeks my 721 had been working without a problewm till the outage.

Whatever was bugging it appeared to go away.

I also was wondering if my SW64 was somehow contributing to the problems and was waiting for warmer weather and $ to upgfrade to dishpro.

I would of had a 508 weeks ago if the CEO address hadnt ignored it mail.

ANY receiver can become a dp IF E PUTS OUT FAUILTY SOFTWARE:(

Bob you are like a guy whos swimming at a beach screaming "Im drowning" yet when life guards jump in and offers to help you, you tell them to go away because you still have air in your lungs.

Get a new receiver and be happy, complaining about a receiver that you know has problems does no good for anyone.

Its not a 721 problem! Its a problem with Bob's 721. See the difference?

Ahh I posted this to warn others their recordings might not work! Since E tech said it was a known problem from the outage...

Obviously you want ONLY glowing reports here. Remember the last bug I reported? Later didnt it get you too?

Later I will find and post it here:(

Why do you need to warn others that their recordings might not work? If there is nothing that can be done, how are you helping? It just seems that you post things to inflame situations. It reduces your credibility when you are so negative all the time.

I had three timers set that didn't fire last night including the Charlie CHAT. Timers were still showing, and it wouldn't let me delet them. I pulled my smart card and let it boot and when it came on ,out of date timers were gone. This is the first timer misfire I've had since I got my 721 in november.

What outage??? My timers are working fine. Bob had a power outage or E* has a outage?

I want to put in a word of support for those who post their problems here. I find it comforting to discover that I am not alone in dealing with problems on the 721.

I too had timers which did not execute yesterday after the "outage." This was probably due to the fact that I lost most of my channels, including 101 where the Charley Chat was due to record. It didn't.

Multiple reboots and switch tests failed to bring my channels back. E*'s automated phone system kept telling me it was experiencing "Heavy volume." I finally got through late last night and recovered my missing channels (including all my locals) after a Tech walked me through a lengthy regimen of testing signals on 110 & 119 and yet another switch test.

Keep posting, it helps to know I'm not alone.

E had a outage yesterday. Big one.

Timco. I was trying to help people so they could see if their timers were working, rather than be disappointed later with nothing recorded.

Mike R, So it wasnt just me. Although my timers wrere still there, but not recording.

I know whats its like to find your FAVOIRITE show didnt record for one reason or another:(

So I tried to help alert folks of a possible problem and .............

I happened to see the failure start with a input one failure notice. I immediately started troubleshooting. Maybe if I hadnt touched the unit it would of recovered without a problem?

Did my pulling cards, rebooting, switch test somehow make it worse?

Dont know but do wonder.

I ALSO would like to try the 721 on a dishpro. At least initially sw64s appeared to get the lost input problem often.

Has anyone upgraded to dishpro and notivced a difference./

Sure I want to watch tv but some of this is highly interesting to ME.

Since I once saw my 64 cause all receivers to blink out for hours after I added a package. A contact coinfirmned a tech service persons comment that it happens occasionally. Didnt appear to know what caused it exactly.

I believe the timers not fireing was just the outage problem. Bob I do have a dishpro quad so it wasn't your 64 switch.

Well my NEW 508 arrived today, and I retired my remaining DP. 508 is running good. I asked E to replace my 721 based on the lost input one. They denied of ever hearing of that problem before but agreed to replace it.

I HOPE the refurb will be ok. Time will tell.

Now I want to upgrade to dishpro. $ and a warm day is needed.

I don't know why you are "upgrading" to a Dishpro. My SW64 works fine with my 721.

I'd look elsewhere.

My SW64 works fine with it too

Ahh I want to reduce the number of cable runs. With my 721
I have 2 dishes on my home for core. I didnt want 2 SW64s and load isolaters. Jen doesnt like 2 dishes side by side on the deck. I want to be rid of the 64 and that power inserter.

I figure the dishpro will elminate most of these problems and I will eventually sell the 64, and all my legacy receivers.
