DISCLAIMER: Before somone jumps down my throat and strangles me, I want to emphasize that A. I am using software version P167, and B. I just noticed this, so I haven't even tested it for repeatability.
When I left for vacation on the 2nd, I had created several one-time protected timers for the 13th, 14th, and 15th for later viewing. (Hint: Setting the timers manually on a 501 receiver is NOT fun, mainly due to the channel selection). Well, today, since I arrived home earlier than expected, I converted the one-time timers to weekly timers.
Well, to my surprise, I found that the program HAD recorded and had the protected flag set. This was a surprise.
So, in order to create a protected timer:
1. Set the timer up as a one-time event with the protected checked.
2. Go in and then change the event from a one-time to a weekly event. Save the changes.
3. The timer will go off, and the recording will be protexted.
NOTE:
A. Because of TechTV's Friday Anime slot, I cannot set up a Mon-Fri timer. Instead, I have to set up four weekly timers.
B. I haven't tested it for repeatability. I just saw this just now.
I'm going to try this out more tomorrow.
